Fits Biosealer CR6 dental sealant applicator, replaces OEM part 170-2040.
24V, 3700mAh Ni-MH pack delivers consistent power throughout sealant application cycles.
Connector attaches vertically into the CR6 battery slot with a positive-lead orientation.
We bench-tested this cell in the CR6 charging dock; BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion without fault codes.
After installation, let the device complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — the CR6 runs BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Biosealer CR6 — 24V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (170-2040)

This is a 24V, 3700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Biosealer CR6 dental sealant applicator. It replaces OEM part number 170-2040 in the CR6 handheld unit. Capacity is matched to the original specification at 88.8Wh.

  • CR6 platform fit: The CR6 uses a fixed 24V Ni-MH pack with a connector and BMS handshake tied to the 170-2040 specification. This replacement meets the same voltage rail and cell count so the device's charge controller recognises it without flagging a fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and full-load discharge on a simulated CR6 load profile. The BMS completed cell balancing without cutoff, and voltage held stable across the discharge curve through the first three cycles.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, let the CR6 complete its power-on self-test without interrupting the sequence. The device runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that does not clear until a full reboot.

Why the CR6 BMS rejects a new cell on first boot

The CR6 charge controller stores the previous cell's discharge signature. A fresh Ni-MH pack presents a different internal resistance profile, which can cause the BMS to flag the cell as mismatched on the first power-on. This is not a fault in the replacement cell — it is the controller comparing against stored values. Running one full charge-discharge cycle gives the BMS enough data to update its reference and accept the new pack. After that cycle, the alarm clears and does not return.

Charge indicator stalls below 100% on first charge

On the first charge, the CR6's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it does not recognise a seasoned cell profile. The indicator may stop climbing at 85–95% and hold there. This is the IC capping input voltage as a precaution, not a failed charge. Let the charge cycle complete fully without removing the battery early. After the first full cycle, the IC recalibrates and subsequent charges reach 100% normally — confirmed at 28.8V open-circuit at full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The CR6 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — what's causing it?

The BMS compares the new cell's internal resistance against the stored profile of the old pack, and the mismatch triggers a low-battery threshold alert even when voltage is correct. This is not a fault in the replacement — it is the controller failing to recognise the new chemistry signature yet. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle without using the unit clinically. After that cycle, the BMS updates its reference values and the alarm does not recur.

The CR6 won't power on at all after the replacement battery was sitting in storage — how do I recover it?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and if the pack dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 20V for a 24V pack), the controller locks out power-on as a protection measure. Place the battery in the CR6 and connect it to the charger — do not attempt to power on the device first. The charge IC will apply a trickle current to bring the pack back above the recovery floor, after which normal charging resumes. Once the charge indicator shows a full cycle complete, power-on will succeed.

The CR6 is cutting off mid-procedure after only a few minutes of use — is the new battery faulty?

Fresh Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first several cycles, which causes sharper voltage sag under the CR6's load profile. The BMS reads the sag as a depleted pack and triggers a protective cutoff before the cell is actually discharged. This behaviour resolves as the cell conditions — internal resistance drops across the first 8 to 10 full charge-discharge cycles. Run those conditioning cycles outside clinical use and confirm the pack holds above 22V under load before returning the device to procedure work.
