Fits BlackView A8 MAX smartphone; replaces OEM part number AB1683 battery cell.
Nominal voltage 3.8V at 2950mAh capacity delivers the original power output for normal operation.
Connector slides into the factory slot with no modification; locking tab seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested the AB1683 cell in a BlackView A8 MAX test unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlackView A8 MAX — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AB1683)

This is a 3.8V, 2950mAh Li-Polymer cell sourced as a direct replacement for the BlackView A8 MAX smartphone. It fits the original battery bay and connects to the same flex connector as the factory cell. Use it when the original battery no longer holds a usable charge or the phone refuses to power on.

  • A8 MAX battery bay fit: The A8 MAX uses a fixed rear-cover design with a dedicated battery compartment sized for this 94.00 × 63.30 × 4.00 mm cell. The AB1683 part number matches the OEM connector pinout and the charge IC's voltage thresholds, so the BMS handshake completes without fault flags.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS held charge termination at the correct 4.35V cutoff and did not trip the overcurrent latch during the modem-active load phase.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before fast charge current is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Why the A8 MAX reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The A8 MAX uses a coulomb counter that builds its model against the original cell's capacity and internal resistance. When a new cell goes in, the stored model no longer matches the actual discharge curve. The phone reads a voltage that maps to the old cell's state-of-charge table, so it shows 40% when the cell may be at 60%. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the coulomb counter and rebuilds the model against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated the new cell's voltage cliff. Under modem or screen load, the cell voltage dips sharply around 3.5–3.6V, which the uncalibrated gauge misreads as a safe mid-range level until the phone's undervoltage protection cuts power. It is not a faulty cell. Complete one full supervised discharge cycle — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge to 100% without interruption. After that cycle, the gauge maps the correct voltage-to-capacity curve and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BlackView A8 MAX won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for a few months — is the cell dead?

Most likely the cell dropped below 2.5V in storage and the BMS has locked out to prevent damage to a deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, after which the phone should respond. If the charge LED does not activate within 45 minutes, the cell has dropped below the point where the BMS will recover it autonomously.

Fast charging stopped working after I fitted the AB1683 — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the A8 MAX defaults to a reduced current rate because the BMS on a fresh cell presents higher impedance than a broken-in cell. The phone's fast charge protocol negotiation reads this as a signal to limit input current. Run one full standard charge cycle to 100%, let the cell cool, then plug in again — the charge IC recalibrates its impedance model on the second cycle and fast charge handshake completes normally.

The A8 MAX battery percentage jumps around erratically — sometimes it drops 10% in seconds, then jumps back up.

Erratic percentage jumps are the fuel gauge IC recalibrating in real time against a cell it has no reference data for yet. The coulomb counter is interpolating voltage readings against the old cell's stored lookup table, so small load spikes cause large reported swings. This settles after one complete uninterrupted discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by a full charge to 100%. Do not reboot or disconnect during that cycle — interrupting it resets the recalibration and the jumping resumes.
