Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BLU Dash G / D490L / D490U — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (C785039200T)
This is a 3.7V, 1800mAh Li-ion cell that replaces part number C785039200T in the BLU Dash G, D490L, D490U, and Dash X2 smartphones. It restores power to a phone that no longer holds a charge or fails to stay on through normal use. Dimensions are 64.04 × 51.05 × 4.50mm — measure your original cell before installing if you're unsure of the revision.
- Dash G / D490 series compatibility: The D490L, D490U, and Dash X2 share the same physical footprint and connector pinout as the Dash G, which is why a single cell covers this family. The BMS handshake on each device reads cell voltage and temperature over the same two-wire interface, so no firmware differences block the swap.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a BLU Dash G unit. The charge IC accepted the cell without fault flags, and the BMS held cutoff correctly at both ends of the voltage range without tripping prematurely.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it remap against the new cell before high-current charging begins.
Why the Dash G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Dash G uses a coulomb counter that builds its state-of-charge model from the previous cell's history. When you install a new cell, the IC still references that old curve. Percentage readings can appear frozen, inflated, or drop in large jumps until the IC collects enough discharge data to recalculate. One full discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full uninterrupted charge, forces the IC to rewrite its reference points. After that cycle, percentage reporting on the Dash G stabilises to within a few percent of actual charge state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This shutdown happens when the cell voltage collapses under the combined load of the modem radio and the screen — typically during a call or while streaming. Even though the coulomb counter shows 20–30% remaining, the cell can't sustain voltage above the BMS cutoff threshold under that load spike. It's a cell-voltage issue, not a capacity issue. If it happens consistently, run the recalibration cycle described above first; if shutdowns continue after one full cycle, check that the replacement cell connector is fully seated, since a partial connection raises contact resistance and amplifies the voltage sag.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BLU Dash G won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
Most likely the cell dropped below 2.5V in storage and the BMS locked out to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC on the Dash G needs to trickle current into the cell until it recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, which is around 3.0V, before the phone will respond to a power-on command.
The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after installation — is that normal?
Yes, and it's specific to the first few cycles. A new cell starts with slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat while pushing current into it. The warmth should reduce noticeably by the third full charge cycle. If the back of the phone stays hot beyond that point, or the phone gets hot while idle, stop charging and check that the connector is fully clipped in — a loose pin increases resistance and generates excess heat at the contact point.
After installing the new cell, the percentage jumps around erratically — it showed 60%, then jumped to 85%, then dropped to 40% in a few minutes.
That's the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The Dash G's coulomb counter lost its reference point when the old cell was removed and hasn't yet collected enough data from the new cell to report accurately. Charge the phone fully to 100% without interruption, then use it normally until it shuts down automatically, then charge again to 100%. One complete uninterrupted cycle is usually enough to stabilise the readings.
