Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BLU Life OneXL — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C866640282L)
This is a 3000mAh Li-Polymer cell at 3.8V (11.4Wh) for the BLU Life OneXL smartphone and related models including the L050, LIFE XL, and Life One XL. It replaces OEM part numbers C866640282L and C866639282L. Swap this in when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- BLU Life OneXL series fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (86.60 × 65.90 × 4.00mm), connector pinout, and charge IC handshake — the replacement cell seats and communicates with the board the same way the original does.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence on the BLU platform. The BMS held charge termination correctly and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff during the modem-active draw spikes we ran.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% on standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's discharge curve before fast charge pushes high current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the BLU Life OneXL after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. A fresh cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. When the screen or modem pulls a brief high-current burst, terminal voltage sags below the shutdown threshold even though the OS still reads 20–30% remaining. One full reference cycle — discharge to cutoff, charge to 100% on standard current — recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates the premature shutdown.
OS percentage jumping erratically after installing the replacement cell
The fuel gauge IC on the BLU Life OneXL stores a learned model of the original cell's impedance and discharge slope. A new cell has different internal resistance, so the IC's state-of-charge estimates swing wide until it gathers real data. You will see percentage jump up or drop several points with no load change. Run two full discharge-to-100% cycles without interruption and the readings stabilise — the IC rewrites its reference model by the end of the second cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My BLU Life OneXL won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?
It is likely in BMS lockout, not dead. Li-Polymer cells that self-discharge in storage can drop below 2.5V per cell, at which point the BMS opens the protection circuit and blocks all output. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charging indicator does not appear within that window, measure cell voltage directly; anything below 2.5V requires a slow pre-charge recovery at around 0.1C before normal charging can resume.
Fast charging stopped working on the BLU Life OneXL right after I put in the new battery — it only trickle charges now.
The USB charge IC runs a negotiation handshake with the battery BMS on the first cycle after a cell swap. If the BMS has not yet confirmed cell condition data, the charge IC defaults to a safe low-current rate rather than risk overvoltage on an unknown cell. Complete one full charge to 100% on standard current without interrupting the session. On the next charge cycle the handshake completes, the IC accepts the higher current rate, and fast charging resumes — verify by checking that the phone gets warm at the back near the USB port within the first few minutes of connecting.
The BLU Life OneXL feels noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement — should I be worried?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the first few cycles as it works against that resistance. This is normal and the temperature drops as the cell breaks in over two to three full charge cycles. If the phone feels hot to the touch — above roughly 45°C on the back surface — interrupt the charge and let it cool before continuing. After three cycles, if warmth persists at the same level, check that the replacement cell dimensions (86.60 × 65.90 × 4.00mm) match and the cell is not compressed in the bay.
