Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

QMobile Z8 Plus — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (C866640282L)

This 3.8V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces part number C866640282L in the QMobile Z8 Plus smartphone. It matches the original cell's voltage, capacity, and connector configuration. Dimensions are 86.60 × 65.90 × 4.00mm — verify against your existing cell before installing.

  • Z8 Plus cell compatibility: The Z8 Plus uses a Li-Polymer pouch cell with a specific BMS handshake tied to the phone's charge IC. This replacement carries the same voltage rating and connector pinout, so the charge circuit recognises it without triggering a protection fault on first boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a controlled bench rig. The BMS held the 4.35V upper cutoff correctly and did not trip the protection circuit under simulated modem and screen load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Z8 Plus after a cell swap

A new cell has a different internal resistance profile than the aged cell the fuel gauge IC was calibrated against. Under heavy load — active LTE, screen at full brightness, GPS — the cell voltage drops sharply. The phone's protection circuit reads this as a critically low voltage event and cuts power, even though the reported percentage looks safe. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and tightens the percentage-to-voltage mapping. After calibration, the shutdowns typically stop.

USB fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

The Z8 Plus charge IC negotiates fast charge protocols with the BMS on the cell. A new BMS may not complete this handshake successfully on the first charge cycle, causing the phone to fall back to standard 5V charging. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Fully discharge the phone, then plug in using the original cable and charger — on the second or third cycle the handshake completes and fast charge activates normally at the expected input voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My QMobile Z8 Plus won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead too?

A Li-Polymer cell stored in a discharged state can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — the protection circuit disconnects the cell entirely to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell to bring voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold. If the phone still shows nothing after 45 minutes, try a different cable — the Z8 Plus charge port is sensitive to cable resistance. Once the cell reads above 3.0V the BMS resets and the phone boots normally.

The battery percentage on my Z8 Plus jumps around erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then back to 55% within minutes.

This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no discharge curve data for. The coulomb counter inside the phone was trained on the original cell's impedance and capacity, so it produces unstable readings against an unfamiliar cell. Run one complete discharge — use the phone until it shuts off on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single full cycle the fuel gauge locks onto the new cell's curve and the percentage stabilises.

The Z8 Plus gets noticeably warm near the back panel while charging the new battery — is the cell faulty?

A new high-impedance Li-Polymer cell dissipates more heat during the first few charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC pushes current into higher internal resistance, and some of that energy converts to heat rather than stored charge. This is normal and typically reduces after three to five full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold after five cycles, check that the charge IC is not locked into fast charge on a cell that has not yet completed its BMS handshake — drop to a standard 5V charger for one cycle and measure again.
