Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Typhoon MyGuide 3500 Mobile / 6500 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Typhoon MyGuide 3500 mobile, 3500 Lidl, Guide, and 6500 series portable GPS navigation units. These are handheld PDA-class devices from the mid-2000s. Dimensions are 50.00 × 35.90 × 8.50mm — measure your original before ordering if you are unsure of your exact variant.
- MyGuide 3500 and 6500 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector orientation, and 3.7V single-cell architecture. One replacement cell covers the full range listed above without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a PDA-class test rig. The protection circuit handled over-charge cutoff and low-voltage lockout correctly at both ends of the curve.
- RAM state before you pull the battery: Sync all open files and application data to a host PC before removing the old cell. The MyGuide stores active map state and user waypoints in RAM powered directly by the main battery. A full power loss — even for a few seconds — clears that data permanently.
Why the MyGuide 3500 won't boot after a new battery is fitted
A replacement cell ships with a partial charge — typically 40–60% state of charge for transport safety. The MyGuide boot sequence draws a short high-current spike to initialise the display and GPS module. If the cell voltage is below roughly 3.5V at power-on, the protection circuit trips and the unit appears dead. Charge the new battery fully before attempting the first boot — connect to the OEM charger or a USB source and leave it until the charge indicator clears.
MyGuide 3500 reporting shorter battery life after a replacement swap
A new Li-ion cell sometimes under-performs for the first few cycles because the electrodes have not yet reached full ion mobility. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles with the GPS active before judging capacity. Also check that the device is not left in map-rendering mode with the backlight at maximum — the LCD backlight is the single largest current draw on this platform and cuts usable charge significantly. After the break-in cycles, battery life should stabilise at or near the 1300mAh rated capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Typhoon MyGuide 3500 lost all my saved waypoints and route history when I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes, and it is a hardware limitation of the platform, not a fault with the replacement cell. The MyGuide stores active map data, waypoints, and user settings in volatile SRAM, which is powered continuously by the main battery. The moment that cell is removed, power to SRAM drops and the contents are gone. Always perform a full sync to a connected PC and back up your POI files before pulling the battery.
The MyGuide 3500 screen flickers and the unit resets itself mid-route — could the new battery be causing this?
Flickering and mid-use resets on this device usually point to a voltage sag event. When the GPS receiver locks onto satellites and the backlight is running simultaneously, the current draw peaks sharply. If the cell has any internal resistance above spec — common in a deeply discharged original battery — the voltage dips enough to trigger the protection circuit and reset the unit. Fit the replacement cell, charge it fully to 4.2V, and run one complete charge cycle before use to confirm the fault clears.
The GPS satellite lock on my MyGuide 3500 is taking much longer after the battery swap than it did before — what's happening?
The GPS radio on the MyGuide is voltage-sensitive — it performs a cold start and takes longer to acquire satellites when the supply voltage is not stable. A new cell that has not yet been fully charged will sit at a lower resting voltage, which affects radio output power and receiver sensitivity. Charge the replacement battery completely before your first navigation session. If lock times remain slow after a full charge, the issue is antenna-related rather than power-related.
