Fits bObi Classic robotic vacuum cleaners; replaces OEM battery for models 017144-TN and BQBS1000.
14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers rated capacity across hard floors and carpet cleaning cycles.
Connector seats vertically into dock contacts; locking tab on pack pulls straight out to release.
Bench testing showed BMS acceptance on dock charge cycle without fault codes or early cutoff behavior.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously — Ni-MH packs on trickle charge develop capacity fade faster; charge to full and remove until next cleaning session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BobSweep bObi Classic / bObi Pet — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the BobSweep bObi Classic and bObi Pet robotic vacuum cleaners. It fits models including 017144-TN and BQBS1000. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the robot shuts down mid-cycle.

  • bObi Classic and bObi Pet compatibility: Both models run on the same 14.4V power rail, share the same battery bay dimensions, and use the same connector pinout — one cell covers both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a bObi platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake on first connection, held voltage through a full cleaning cycle, and tripped cleanly on overcurrent without requiring a manual reset.
  • Dock charging discipline on robotic vacuums: Do not leave the bObi sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous trickle charging on Ni-MH cells accelerates capacity fade faster than normal cycling. Charge the robot to full, then remove it from the dock until the next scheduled clean.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the bObi, suction loss often happens well before the battery LED signals low charge. The motor draws harder when the filter is partially blocked, pulling more current than the cell is rated to deliver at that state of charge. Voltage sags under that elevated load, and the motor loses speed — but the indicator reads voltage at rest, not under load, so it still shows green. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest. If suction holds after that, the cell was not the root cause.

Motor cutting out mid-cycle and then recovering on its own

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the bObi transitions from hard floor to carpet, suction restriction spikes current draw sharply. If the filter is clogged, that spike exceeds the BMS threshold and the pack shuts output off momentarily. The robot pauses, current drops, and the BMS resets automatically — which looks like the unit "recovered." Check the filter and the brush roll for hair wrap. Clear both, then run the robot again; if the cutout stops, the restriction was the cause, not the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My bObi runs fine on hard floor but cuts out every time it hits the carpet — is this the battery?

Not necessarily the cell itself. Carpet transitions spike motor current sharply, and if the filter is even partially blocked, that surge trips the BMS overcurrent protection on the battery pack. The robot pauses, then restarts once current drops back below the threshold. Clear the filter and remove any hair wrapped around the brush roll first. If the cutouts stop after that, the restriction was the cause — not the battery.

I replaced the battery but the bObi still won't charge on the dock — what's wrong?

The bObi's charger expects the BMS inside the pack to complete a handshake before it starts delivering current. If the dock light stays off or flashes an error, seat the robot on the dock, lift it off, and reseat it firmly — a poor contact breaks the handshake. If the charge indicator still does not respond after reseating, check the dock pins for debris or corrosion and clean them with a dry cloth. Once contact is clean and the BMS handshake completes, the charger should begin the charge cycle within 30 seconds.

The bObi's runtime got noticeably shorter after a few months — did the new battery fail already?

Ni-MH cells lose capacity faster when left on the dock continuously. The charger keeps a trickle current flowing after the pack is full, and that sustained low-level charge stresses Ni-MH chemistry over time. Stop leaving the robot parked on the dock between cleans. Charge it fully, remove it from the dock, and return it only when it needs charging. Running a few full discharge-and-charge cycles after changing the habit can partially recover capacity — aim for at least three full cycles before assessing where runtime has settled.
