Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC GR-D240 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BN-VF733)
This is a 7.4V, 3300mAh Li-ion battery pack replacing the BN-VF733 in JVC MiniDV camcorders. It fits the GR-D240, GR-D246, GR-D247, GR-D250, and over 40 additional GR-series models. Same voltage, same connector, same form factor as the original pack.
- GR-series platform fit: JVC's mid-2000s MiniDV line shared a common battery bay and contact layout across the GR-D and GR-X families. All confirmed compatible models run the same 7.4V rail with identical BMS communication pins — one pack covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on a GR-D240 body. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the battery-remaining indicator tracked normally through the discharge curve.
- First-use charge cycle on camcorder body: Charge this pack inside the JVC camcorder on first use — not in a third-party standalone charger. The GR-series BMS maps the discharge curve to the indicator display during the first in-body charge cycle. Skipping this step can cause the battery bar to display inaccurately for the life of the pack.
Why the GR-D240 shows a dead battery indicator on a freshly charged replacement cell
The GR-D240 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge. A new cell fresh off a third-party charger can present a slightly different resting voltage than the camera expects at "full." The BMS reads this as a partially or fully depleted pack and triggers the low-battery warning immediately. Charging the pack directly inside the camera body recalibrates the threshold mapping. After one full in-body charge cycle, the indicator should read correctly.
Battery percentage jumping erratically mid-recording on GR-D240
This happens when the camcorder's fuel-gauge circuit hasn't yet mapped the new cell's discharge curve. The original BN-VF733 had a known voltage-vs-capacity profile baked into the camera firmware. A replacement cell with a slightly different discharge slope causes the indicator to jump between readings rather than step down gradually. Run two full charge and discharge cycles inside the camera body. By the second cycle, the display should stabilise and track linearly down to the 7.0V cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GR-D240 says "no battery" or flashes the battery icon immediately after I insert the new pack — is the cell dead?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The GR-series BMS runs an authentication check on insertion and can reject an unrecognised cell before it even attempts to read voltage. Insert the pack and charge it fully inside the camera body using the original JVC AC adapter. One complete in-body charge cycle is usually enough for the camera to accept the pack and clear the error.
The battery bar on my GR-D246 drops from three bars to one bar almost instantly, then the camera keeps recording for a long time — what's wrong?
The indicator is misreading the new cell's discharge curve, not the actual capacity. JVC's bar-graph display maps to fixed voltage thresholds calibrated for the original cell. A replacement cell with a flatter mid-range discharge curve burns through those voltage steps unevenly. Run two full charge and discharge cycles inside the camera body — the display will stabilise as the BMS re-learns the curve against the new cell's actual profile.
The camcorder body feels noticeably warm after 20–30 minutes of continuous recording — is the replacement battery causing this?
The heat is coming from the camera, not the battery. Sustained MiniDV recording puts the tape transport motor, image processor, and LCD all on simultaneously — that combined draw generates heat at the processor and motor driver, not at the cell. Check that the battery contacts are clean and fully seated; a loose connection increases resistance and adds localised heat at the bay. If the body stays warm but the battery voltage at end of session reads above 7.0V, the cell is working normally.
