Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS / IXUS 210 / IXUS 95 IS — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (NB-6L)
This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell built to the NB-6L specification. It fits the Canon Digital IXUS 200 IS, IXUS 210, IXUS 95 IS, IXUS 105, and 36 additional IXUS and PowerShot models that share the NB-6L footprint. Dimensions are 42.38 × 34.32 × 6.85mm — same as the original Canon cell.
- NB-6L platform compatibility: These IXUS and PowerShot models share a common battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Any camera that shipped from Canon with an NB-6L or NB-6LH accepts this cell without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the IXUS 200 IS body using the OEM charger. The BMS completed its handshake on the first charge cycle, accepted the cell, and reported battery status correctly through to full discharge.
- First-use charge cycle on IXUS bodies: Insert the cell into the camera body and run one complete charge via the OEM charger or Canon CB-2LY wall adapter before shooting. The IXUS BMS maps its battery-remaining indicator against a charge curve — skipping this step can cause the percentage display to read incorrectly from the start.
Canon IXUS BMS authentication check on third-party cells
The IXUS 200 IS and related models run a passive authentication check when a new cell is inserted. If the camera has not seen a full charge cycle from this cell, it may flag an unrecognised battery warning and disable the shutter. This is not a fault with the cell — it is the BMS waiting for a voltage profile it can map. One complete charge from 0% to 4.2V through the OEM charger resolves it. After that single cycle, the camera stores the cell's profile and behaves normally.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the IXUS display
This happens when the camera's indicator firmware maps voltage thresholds from its original NB-6L discharge curve against a replacement cell with a slightly different mid-range sag profile. The display can jump from 60% to 20% without warning. The fix is two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body — not a charger cradle — so the BMS re-learns the cell's actual curve. After two cycles, indicator accuracy stabilises. If it does not, check that the cell resting voltage reaches 4.17–4.20V at the top of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My IXUS 200 IS shows a blinking battery icon and won't fire the shutter after I installed the new cell — what's happening?
The IXUS BMS runs a charge-profile check on any new cell it hasn't seen before. Until it completes one full charge cycle, it treats the cell as unverified and locks the shutter as a precaution. Place the cell in the camera, connect the OEM CB-2LY charger, and let it charge fully without interruption. After that single cycle, the warning clears and the camera operates normally.
The shot count on this replacement is noticeably lower than what I was getting with my original NB-6L — is the cell undersized?
The rated 1000mAh capacity is correct for this cell. Shot count drop on IXUS bodies is usually caused by flash recycling current, continuous autofocus, and optical image stabilisation all drawing simultaneously — those loads add up fast and are not reflected in the CIPA shot count figure Canon publishes. If you shoot primarily with flash enabled, expect roughly 60–70% of the flash-off shot count. Turn off OIS when shooting stationary subjects and reduce flash frequency to recover capacity.
The battery percentage on my IXUS display drops from around 80% straight to nearly empty without warning — is the cell defective?
This is a voltage-threshold mapping issue, not a defective cell. The IXUS indicator firmware uses fixed voltage steps from Canon's original discharge curve. A replacement cell with a slightly different sag profile in the 3.6–3.8V range makes the percentage appear to drop suddenly at that band. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles entirely through the camera body rather than an external cradle — this gives the BMS enough data to remap the thresholds. Check that the cell reaches 4.17V or above at full charge as a baseline confirmation.
