Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Castles Vega 3000 / 3000P — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (V3M2)
This 3.7V 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Castles Vega 3000 and Vega 3000P portable payment terminals. It matches OEM part numbers V3M2, 40100023, and B16. Fits the same physical bay and connector as the factory battery.
- Vega 3000 and 3000P compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V supply rail, and BMS handshake protocol — this cell works in both without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full boot sequence on the Vega 3000. The BMS handshake completed on first power-on, the charge IC entered normal top-off mode, and the terminal reached the transaction-ready screen without error flags.
- First deployment on a live countertop: Complete one full transaction cycle before using the terminal in a live environment. The Vega 3000 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
The Vega 3000 draws a short current spike when the receipt printer fires — this can trip a new battery's BMS overcurrent protection if the cell hasn't completed its first full charge cycle. The BMS on a freshly installed cell is in a conservative state until it has mapped the load profile. Charge the battery to 100% before the first transaction run. After one complete charge-discharge cycle, the BMS adjusts its overcurrent threshold and the mid-sale reboot stops.
Terminal stuck at a blank screen and not completing the PCI boot sequence
The Vega 3000 runs a PCI-compliant security boot that draws more current than standby — if the new cell hasn't been accepted by the BMS yet, voltage sags below the terminal's minimum operating threshold before the boot sequence finishes. This looks like a dead device but is a BMS initialisation issue. Connect the terminal to the charger, leave it for a full charge cycle without interruption, then power on while still connected to the charger. Once the boot completes with external power, the BMS registers the load profile and the terminal boots normally from battery at 3.7V.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Vega 3000 was sitting in a drawer unused for a few months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
A cell that has self-discharged below roughly 2.5V will not respond to a normal charge cycle because the BMS locks out as a safety measure. Connect the terminal to its original charger and leave it for at least two hours without interrupting the charge — some chargers apply a low-current recovery trickle before switching to full charge. If the terminal shows any charging indicator within that window, the cell is recovering. If there is no response after two hours on the charger, the cell has dropped below the recovery threshold and a replacement battery is the correct fix.
The charge indicator has been sitting at 99% since I put the new battery in — is something wrong with it?
Nothing is wrong. When a new cell is first installed, the charge IC enters top-off mode and holds just below 100% while it balances the cell to full capacity. This is normal behaviour on the Vega 3000 and clears on its own. Run one complete transaction cycle and allow the battery to discharge partially, then recharge to full. After that first real cycle, the charge indicator will read accurately.
The terminal gets noticeably warm during a busy trading period — is that a battery fault?
The Vega 3000 combines a wireless radio, colour display, and receipt printer in a compact enclosure, so sustained transaction load generates real heat from multiple sources simultaneously. Warmth during a heavy session is a thermal load issue, not a battery fault. If the terminal shuts down from heat rather than just feeling warm, check that the ventilation slots on the casing are clear and that the terminal is not sitting flat on a heat-retaining surface. Normal operating temperature for the cell is up to 45°C — if the case feels too hot to hold comfortably for more than a few seconds, move it to a cooler position on the counter.
