Fits VeriFone V240m Plus payment terminal, replaces OEM battery part number BPK474-001 and BPK474-001-03-B.
3.7V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 9.62Wh to sustain transaction processing during merchant shifts without mid-cycle shutdowns.
Connector slides into the battery slot with single locking tab orientation — no force needed to seat the contact pack fully.
We ran the cell through a full transaction cycle on a V240m Plus test unit; the BMS accepted the new handshake on boot and held stable current draw during receipt printing and card reads.
After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before deploying in a live environment — the terminal calibrates the charge indicator during normal operation and requires at least one complete power cycle to map battery capacity correctly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone V240m Plus — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPK474-001)

This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original BPK474-001 cell in the VeriFone V240m Plus payment terminal. It also fits the V240m, V240m 3G, and V240m 3GBWC variants that share the same battery bay and connector. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly.

  • V240m family compatibility: The V240m, V240m Plus, V240m 3G, and V240m 3GBWC all use the same 3.7V battery bay, physical connector, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers the entire family.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full boot sequence on a V240m Plus unit. The BMS accepted the handshake on first power-up, the terminal completed its PCI security boot, and the charge indicator reported correctly within one full charge cycle.
  • First deployment tip: After fitting this battery, run the terminal through at least one complete transaction cycle before putting it into live service. The V240m maps battery capacity during normal operation — skipping this step leaves the charge indicator uncalibrated and can trigger a low-battery warning mid-shift despite a full cell.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after a battery swap

The V240m Plus runs a PCI security check during every boot, and that check pulls a brief current spike as it initialises the wireless and tamper-detection circuits. On a brand-new cell, the BMS has not yet established a charge baseline, so it can interpret that spike as an out-of-range draw and stall the boot. Plugging the terminal into the charging cradle before the first boot gives the BMS time to register the cell and set a baseline. One full charge-to-discharge cycle resolves this in almost every case.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction when printing a receipt

The receipt printer motor in the V240m draws a sharp current spike the moment it fires — far higher than the idle display or wireless draw. If the battery cell voltage is already sagging from a partial charge or a degraded cell, that spike can pull voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering an instant shutdown and reboot. This is not a terminal fault. Charge the battery fully before the shift and confirm the terminal reads above 3.9V under the settings menu before going live.

Frequently Asked Questions

My V240m Plus sat unused for two months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?

Self-discharge over a long storage period can pull a Li-ion cell below the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.5V, at which point the BMS locks the cell out as a safety measure and the terminal shows nothing when you press the power button. Placing the terminal on the charging cradle for 30–60 minutes often allows the charger to trickle enough voltage into the cell for the BMS to unlock and accept a normal charge. If the terminal still shows no response after that period, the original cell has likely dropped below the point of recovery and needs replacing.

The charge indicator has been stuck at 99% since I installed the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. When the charge IC detects a new cell near full capacity, it enters a top-off mode and holds the display at 99% while it applies a low-current finishing charge. This is normal BMS behaviour on a fresh Li-ion cell and is not a fault with the terminal or the battery. The indicator will move to 100% and begin reporting normally once the top-off cycle completes — usually within one full charge cycle from a docked cradle.

The terminal gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery at risk?

The V240m Plus runs its display, wireless radio, and receipt printer simultaneously during peak periods, and that combined draw generates heat in both the cell and the charge management circuitry. Warmth during heavy use is normal within the 40–45°C surface range. If the terminal feels hot to the touch or shuts down without warning, move it off the cradle between transactions to allow passive cooling — continuous charge-while-use on a warm cell accelerates capacity fade faster than normal cycling alone.
