Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CAT S52 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (APP00307)
This 3.8V 2900mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original APP00307 battery in the CAT S52 rugged smartphone. It matches the OEM voltage and capacity spec exactly, so the phone's charge IC and fuel gauge IC receive the same electrical profile as the factory cell. Fits the S52 and no other CAT model — confirm your model before ordering.
- S52 platform fit: The S52 uses a proprietary connector and a BMS that handshakes with the CAT charge IC over a dedicated sense line. This cell carries the same BMS configuration as the original APP00307, so the charge controller accepts it without throwing a battery-authentication fault.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on an S52 unit. The BMS held the charge cutoff at 4.35V and triggered the low-voltage protection gate at 3.0V — both within OEM spec. No thermal events, no mid-cycle cutoff.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This allows the fuel gauge IC to map the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the CAT S52 after a cell swap
The S52's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When a new cell is installed, the IC still references that old curve, so it miscalculates the voltage cliff — the point where cell voltage collapses under modem or display load. The phone cuts out because it hasn't learned where the new cell actually hits that cliff. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full charge resets the coulomb counter and rebuilds the curve. After that cycle, the reported percentage tracks correctly against actual remaining capacity.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
The S52's charge IC runs a BMS handshake on the first charge session after a new cell is detected. Until that handshake completes and the IC confirms cell impedance is within range, it defaults to standard 5V charging rather than negotiating USB-PD. This is normal behaviour — not a fault with the charger or the cable. Plug in and let the first charge session complete without interruption. Fast charge typically activates from the second session onward once the IC has logged the new cell's impedance baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CAT S52 shuts off at around 25% charge after I fitted the new battery — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the S52 is still reading the discharge curve it learned from the old, degraded battery. That mismatch causes it to misjudge the voltage cliff and cut the phone before the cell is actually empty. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge it to 100% without interruption. That cycle forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell's actual curve.
The phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacing the cell — should I be concerned?
Mild warmth on the first few charge cycles is expected with a new Li-Polymer cell. A fresh cell has higher impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC initially pushes current into slightly more resistance, generating low-level heat. We measured surface temperatures on our test unit staying well below 40°C during this phase. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC throws a warning, that is a different issue — check that the replacement cell is seated flat with no pressure on the connector.
My CAT S52 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for several months — is it recoverable?
A Li-Polymer cell stored uncharged for an extended period can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers a BMS lockout to prevent damage from deep discharge. The phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect it to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC on the S52 runs a trickle pre-charge recovery routine that slowly brings the cell voltage back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. If no charge indicator appears after an hour, check the connector seating on the battery.
