Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Compaq Presario 15-h000 / 15-S000 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 14.4V, 2450mAh (35.28Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Compaq Presario 15-h000, 15-S000, 15-S201TX, and 15-S100 series notebooks. It slots into the same bay, uses the same connector, and communicates with the same BMS interface as the factory cell. Capacity figures are taken directly from product data — not extrapolated from web sources.
- 15-h000 and 15-S000 platform fit: These two series share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single cell covers both. The 274.00 × 39.35 × 20.60mm form factor matches the original enclosure exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on a 15-S100 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 100%, and voltage held steady across the cycle with no unexpected cutoffs.
- Post-install discharge cycle on the Presario platform: After fitting this battery, run the laptop on battery power until it hibernates at the low-voltage cutoff, then charge it uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
Why the Presario 15 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health
The Presario 15 platform stores learned battery data in EEPROM — charge capacity, internal resistance, and cycle count — from the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares its readings against that stored baseline and immediately marks health as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. One complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough data to overwrite the old EEPROM values. After that single calibration cycle, the health indicator returns to normal on most units.
Fuel gauge showing wildly different percentages across the first few cycles
The fuel gauge IC on these notebooks estimates state-of-charge by comparing real-time voltage against a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. A brand-new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve, so the IC reports inaccurate percentages — often jumping 10–20% in either direction. This self-corrects after two to three full discharge and charge cycles as the IC recalibrates against actual cell behaviour. If the gauge is still erratic after four cycles, check that the battery is reaching a terminal charge voltage of 16.8V before the charger cuts off.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Presario 15 shuts down at around 25% battery shown — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. At that remaining charge level, the actual cell voltage drops steeply under combined CPU and display load, hitting the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the gauge reaches zero. This is a voltage cliff caused by the fuel gauge IC not yet having a calibrated discharge curve for the new cell. Run two full discharge cycles — draining to hibernate then charging uninterrupted to 100% — and the shutdowns will move to a lower percentage or stop entirely.
The BIOS system info is showing the wrong Wh rating for this replacement battery — should I be worried?
The Wh figure displayed in BIOS is read from EEPROM data that was written for the original cell's chemistry and rated capacity, not the replacement cell's actual measured capacity. This is a data mismatch, not a hardware fault. The cell itself still charges and discharges at its correct 35.28Wh capacity regardless of what the BIOS reports. After one full calibration cycle, most Presario 15 units update the displayed value automatically.
The replacement battery stopped charging at 80% and the charge light went off — what's causing this?
Some Presario 15 units ship with a BIOS-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear during AC use. This is a firmware setting, not a battery fault. Enter the HP BIOS setup utility (F10 on boot), locate the Battery Care or Power Management section, and disable the charge limit. Once disabled, the cell will charge to its full 16.8V termination voltage.
