Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (57Y6625)
This 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Lenovo IdeaPad Y470, Y470A, Y470D, and Y470G, along with 17 additional Y470-series variants. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication spec required by the Y470 platform. Capacity figures come from the product data — not inflated web listings.
- Y470 platform compatibility: All Y470-series variants share the same 11.1V three-cell voltage rail, identical 9-pin connector, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full lineup because Lenovo standardised the battery interface across Y470A, Y470D, and Y470G at the hardware level — not just by marketing name.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Y470 unit and monitored BMS communication through full charge and discharge cycles. The protection circuit engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff, and charge termination fired at the expected 12.6V endpoint with no current runaway.
- Post-install calibration on the Y470: After fitting, run the laptop on battery power until it hibernates at low-charge cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This forces the Y470 BIOS to complete its battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
The Y470 BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM and carries that data forward until a learn cycle resets it. A brand-new cell will show "poor health" or a degraded charge percentage straight after install — this is an EEPROM artefact, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% rewrites the BIOS battery profile against the new cell's actual capacity. After two to three cycles the health indicator normalises.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% battery shown on the gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's voltage curve yet. The gauge reads the old cell's discharge profile and predicts shutdown too early — the laptop cuts power before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fix is the same learn cycle: discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After two full calibration cycles the gauge tracks the new cell accurately and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Y470 shows the battery as 0% or "unknown" right after I put the new one in — is the cell dead?
No — the Y470 BIOS is reading stale EEPROM data from the old pack and hasn't registered the new cell yet. Plug in the charger, let it charge uninterrupted to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate cutoff. That single learn cycle writes the new cell's data into the BIOS battery profile and clears the unknown or 0% reading.
Windows is reporting this battery as 48Wh but the system info screen shows a different Wh rating — which is right?
The 48.84Wh figure in Windows Energy Report reflects the actual cell chemistry we tested. The system info screen pulls its Wh value from the EEPROM on the original pack, which may have stored a slightly different rated figure. The EEPROM value is nominal — the 48.84Wh measured rating is what the cell delivers. After two full calibration cycles the reported values will converge.
My Y470 won't charge above 80% even with the new battery installed — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Y470 BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge threshold that caps charging at 80% when the battery conservation mode setting is active. Open Lenovo Energy Management or the Lenovo Vantage app, find the Battery Charge Threshold setting, and set the upper limit to 100%. The battery will then charge to a full 12.6V endpoint.
