Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Founder E400-I3 / R430 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (A3222-H34)
This is a 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion battery for the Founder E400-I3, R430-I333BQ, and R430IG-I337DX notebooks. It replaces OEM part number A3222-H34. The connector and BMS handshake match the original pack, so the laptop recognises the cell on first boot.
- E400-I3 and R430 platform fit: These three models share the same 10.8V rail, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol. One cell covers all three without any adapter or firmware change.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, discharge, and a simulated CPU-plus-display load. The BMS held the voltage stable across the draw curve and tripped cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold without false shutdowns.
- First-cycle calibration on the E400-I3: After installing, discharge the laptop normally to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to reset against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the A3222-H34
The BIOS pulls health data from EEPROM values written by the original cell. When a new cell goes in, those stored values no longer match the actual chemistry, so the health indicator shows poor or unknown before any real degradation has occurred. This is a firmware read issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% triggers the learn cycle and overwrites the stale EEPROM data. After one or two full cycles, the BIOS health display should return to normal.
Founder R430 shutting down suddenly while the fuel gauge still shows 20–30%
This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load, even though the OS fuel gauge still reads 20–30%. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve and misjudges where the actual voltage cliff is on the new pack. The laptop cuts power because the BMS correctly protects the cell — the gauge just hasn't caught up yet. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full recharge cycles; the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Founder E400-I3 shows the battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows right after I put in the new A3222-H34 — is it dead?
It's not dead. Windows is reading EEPROM data that was written by the old cell, and the new cell hasn't overwritten it yet. Plug in the charger and let it charge uninterrupted to 100%, then discharge fully to hibernate cutoff. After that first complete cycle, the OS should recognise the cell correctly and display an accurate percentage.
The system info screen on my R430 shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from 47.52Wh.
The Wh figure shown in system info comes from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack, not a live measurement. If the value displayed doesn't match 47.52Wh, the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet synced its learned capacity to the new cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full charge to 100%, and the reported Wh value will update to reflect the actual cell capacity.
My Founder R430IG-I337DX fuel gauge is jumping around wildly — shows 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes of unplugging.
The fuel gauge IC uses a coulomb-counting model calibrated against the old cell's discharge profile. On a new cell with a different internal resistance curve, the estimates drift significantly until the IC builds enough data. This is normal for the first two to three cycles. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full recharge cycles without partial top-ups in between, and the gauge will stabilise to within a few percent of actual charge remaining.
