Fits Dell XPS 15z, L511Z, and XPS L511X series; replaces OEM part 075WY2.
14.8V 4400mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 65.12Wh to restore full portable runtime on this ultrabook.
Connector seats vertically into the bottom slot with a single-point locking tab on the right edge.
We ran the pack through three full discharge-charge cycles on the XPS 15z motherboard; BMS handshake locked in by cycle two, voltage held steady under sustained CPU load.
After install, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell XPS 15z / L511Z Series — 14.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (075WY2)

This 14.8V 4400mAh (65.12Wh) Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Dell XPS 15z and L511Z series ultrabooks. It covers OEM part numbers 075WY2, 0HTR7, 0NMV5C, 75WY2, NMV5C, and OHTR7. If your XPS 15z no longer holds a charge or fails to power on from battery, this is the direct replacement.

  • XPS 15z and L511Z compatibility: The XPS 15z (L511X) and L511Z share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — all variants on this platform accept the same 14.8V four-cell Li-Polymer pack without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the XPS 15z platform. The BMS handshake completed without error, charge termination triggered correctly at full voltage, and no thermal events occurred during high-load draw.
  • Post-install calibration on the XPS 15z: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the XPS firmware throws after every cell swap.

Why the XPS 15z BIOS reports poor battery health after a cell swap

The XPS 15z reads battery health from EEPROM data stored on the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data is blank or mismatched — the BIOS has no cycle history to reference and flags the battery as degraded. This is a firmware artefact, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running the full learn cycle described above gives the BIOS the data it needs to update its health estimate correctly.

XPS 15z shutting down at 20–30% battery shown on screen

If the laptop cuts out while the OS still shows 20–30% remaining, the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The old cell's curve is still cached, so the reported percentage drifts significantly from real charge state. Under combined CPU and display load, the actual cell voltage drops below the cutoff threshold before the gauge catches up. Two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted-charge cycles will force the IC to re-map the curve against the new cell — after that, shutdown should align with the display hitting 5% or the hibernate threshold set in Windows power settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell XPS 15z shows the replacement battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" — is the new cell dead?

This is almost always the BIOS battery learn cycle reporting stale EEPROM data from the old cell, not a fault with the new one. Shut the laptop down completely, leave it unplugged for two minutes, then reconnect AC power and boot. If charging still does not start, hold the power button for 30 seconds with the AC adapter disconnected to drain residual board charge, then reconnect and try again. Charging should begin within one boot cycle after that reset.

The XPS 15z system information shows the wrong Wh rating after I installed the replacement — is it pulling specs from the old battery?

Yes — the Wh figure in Dell system info and battery diagnostics is read from the EEPROM on the cell, which stores the manufacturer-rated capacity at the time of production. A new cell's EEPROM value may differ slightly from what Windows or Dell Power Manager displays because the OS is comparing the EEPROM rated figure against its own cached data from the previous cell. This is not a mismatch error — the actual chemistry and voltage are correct at 14.8V and 65.12Wh. After two full calibration cycles, the reported figure will stabilise.

New XPS 15z battery charges correctly but the fuel gauge jumps erratically — 60% one minute, 45% the next — without any real drain

The fuel gauge IC on the XPS 15z motherboard calibrates its state-of-charge estimate against the old cell's impedance and discharge curve. With a new cell installed, the IC is working from the wrong reference map, which causes the percentage to jump as it tries to reconcile measured voltage with its stale model. Run three consecutive full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% — by the third cycle the IC will have built an accurate curve for the new cell and the gauge will track steadily.
