The I656 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers that still carry figures from the old, degraded cell. The new battery ships with different EEPROM baseline values, so the BIOS flags a mismatch and reports poor health. This is a calibration gap, not a fault with the replacement cell. This happens when the fuel gauge IC on the laptop has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual charge curve. The displayed percentage drifts ahead of real cell voltage, and when actual voltage drops under combined CPU and display load, the BMS cuts power before the OS registers the drop. Charge stops at around 80% and the I656 won't charge further — is the battery faulty?

Most Intelbras notebooks include a BIOS-level charge limit setting that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check the power management or battery settings in the BIOS setup screen and disable the charge threshold limit. If no such setting is present, update the BIOS firmware first, as some versions introduced this cap without a visible toggle — after the update the full charge option becomes accessible.
