Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Conair 700 / CTP4000 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original handset pack in Conair cordless phone models including the 700, 700A, CTP4000, and CTP400Q. It restores power to the handset so the phone operates wirelessly within range of the base station. Swap it in when the original pack no longer holds enough charge to sustain a call.

  • 700 and CTP series compatibility: These models share the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH pack format, matching connector pin-out and physical footprint. One battery covers the full range listed above without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a NiMH-compatible analyser. The cell voltage held within spec across discharge, and the base station accepted the pack without triggering a fault light.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base cradle for a full 16 hours before using it. NiMH packs ship partially discharged and need a slow, uninterrupted initial charge to reach rated 600mAh capacity — skipping this step leaves the first few cycles noticeably short.

Base station showing no charge or error light after swap

A NiMH pack that has been in storage can drop well below 3.0V. Some Conair base stations check pack voltage before enabling the charge circuit — if the voltage is too low, the base reads it as a fault and refuses to charge. Leave the handset seated in the base for 30 to 60 minutes anyway; many bases trickle-charge at low voltage before switching to full charge. If the error light clears within an hour, the pack is recovering normally. If it does not clear after 90 minutes, check that the handset contacts are making clean contact with the base cradle pins.

Range drops noticeably when the handset moves away from the base

DECT handsets draw a sharp current spike when the RF transmitter fires — more than steady-state standby draw. A NiMH pack that has not yet completed its first few conditioning cycles shows higher internal resistance, and voltage sags under that RF load. The handset interprets the sag as low battery and reduces transmit power, cutting range. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles and range should stabilise as internal resistance drops toward the rated figure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is way shorter than it should be — is the new battery faulty?

Not likely faulty. NiMH cells shipped in storage have not been cycled, so the first two to three charges deliver noticeably less than rated capacity. Each full charge-and-discharge cycle conditions the cells and pushes capacity closer to the rated 600mAh. Run at least five full cycles — charge the handset fully in the base, use it until the low-battery indicator fires, then return it to the base — before drawing any conclusions about capacity.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing registration when power is fully removed during a battery swap. This is a firmware behaviour in the handset, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset manually: place the handset near the base, hold the page or find button on the base for five seconds, then follow the registration prompt on the handset display. Check the Conair 700 series manual for the exact key sequence if the display does not prompt automatically.

The battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

If the handset is not fully seated, the charge contacts do not close and the base never charges the pack — the handset runs on its own standby draw all night. Press the handset firmly into the cradle until it clicks or sits flush, then check that the charge indicator light on the base activates. If the light still does not come on, clean the metal contacts on both the handset and base cradle with a dry cloth, as oxidation on NiMH contact pins is a common cause of interrupted charge on older cordless phone bases.
