Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Concept VP4170 Real Force Series — 25.9V Li-ion Replacement Battery (42392274)
This is a 25.9V 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Concept VP4170 cordless stick vacuum range. It fits the VP4170, VP4170 Real Force, VP4160, VP4165, and three additional models sharing the same battery platform. Replace it when the original pack no longer holds charge or cuts out before the low-battery indicator activates.
- VP4170 and VP4160 platform compatibility: These models share the same 25.9V battery architecture, connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single cell suits all variants listed — no modification needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on the VP4170 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the charger, accepted a full charge without error codes, and delivered consistent voltage output across the discharge curve.
- Dock charging habit for the VP4170: Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently. Cordless vacuums held on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than those charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the pack from the dock.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the VP4170
The VP4170 motor draws above its rated current when suction is restricted — most often by a blocked filter or a partial blockage in the brush head. The BMS detects the voltage sag from this sustained overcurrent and throttles power before the indicator registers low battery. This mimics a failing battery when the actual cause is motor load. Check and clean the filter first. If suction restores, the battery is not the problem. If the filter is clear and voltage still sags under load, the cell has aged below its functional discharge threshold — around 22V under load on a 25.9V pack.
Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a motor fault. When the brush head is pressed hard into thick carpet or encounters a blockage, current draw spikes. The BMS shuts the output to protect the cells, then resets once the load clears and temperature drops. The fix is to clear any blockage and reduce sustained pressure on thick pile. If trips continue with no blockage present, check cell voltage immediately after a trip — a recovered pack should read above 24V. Consistent trips with voltage above 24V point to a restricted airpath rather than a weak cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Concept VP4170 loses suction well before the battery light comes on — is this a battery problem or something else?
Usually the filter, not the battery. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which causes voltage to sag and power to drop even with charge remaining. Clean or replace the filter first and test again. If suction is still weak with a clean filter, check the cell voltage under load — a healthy 25.9V pack should stay above 22V while the motor is running.
The VP4170 motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds then comes back on its own — what is happening?
That is the BMS tripping on an overcurrent spike, then resetting once the load drops. It happens most often when the brush head is pressed hard into thick carpet or there is a partial blockage restricting airflow. Clear any blockage, ease pressure on dense surfaces, and test again. If it still trips on a clear filter with normal use, measure cell voltage straight after a cutout — below 22V means the pack is no longer holding charge under real load.
This replacement battery charges fully but the VP4170 runs noticeably shorter than it used to — why?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause. Leaving a cordless vacuum on the dock permanently degrades cell capacity through sustained trickle current — the original pack likely accumulated this damage over time, and the symptom is shortened runtime with a full charge indicator. With the new pack, charge to full and remove it from the dock. A blocked filter compounds the problem by pushing motor current above rated draw, which burns through the charge faster — confirm the filter is clean before concluding the new cell is at fault.
