Fits iRobot Roomba Combo Essential and compatible models; replaces OEM battery part number ABL-G.
14.4V and 3350mAh capacity delivers full cleaning cycles on single charge; voltage supports simultaneous vacuuming and wet mopping without motor sag.
Connector seats into undercarriage dock with flat orientation; locking tab clicks flush when fully inserted and seated.
We bench-tested against dock charger — BMS accepted charge without fault codes; cell held voltage under sustained motor draw on carpet.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously — cordless vacuum chargers apply trickle current that degrades capacity over weeks; charge to full and remove from dock until next use.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba Combo Essential — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABL-G)

This 14.4V, 3350mAh Li-ion battery replaces the ABL-G cell in the iRobot Roomba Combo Essential Vacuum and Mop Robot. It fits the Roomba Combo Essential, Combo Essential 2, and Y011040 variants. Swap it when your robot stops completing full floor cycles or returns to dock earlier than it used to.

  • Roomba Combo Essential compatibility: The Combo Essential line shares a common 14.4V power rail and a matched ABL-G connector footprint across the Y011040 and Combo Essential 2 variants. The BMS in each unit expects the same voltage profile at handshake — this cell meets that requirement.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge-discharge cycle on a Roomba Combo Essential unit. The BMS accepted the handshake without a fault code, charge termination triggered correctly at capacity, and the robot transitioned to dock mode as expected.
  • Dock charging practice for the Combo Essential: The Roomba Combo Essential is designed to return automatically to its dock, but leaving it parked on continuous charge between uses accelerates capacity fade. Once the robot has finished its cycle and is fully charged, remove it from the dock until the next scheduled run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

On the Combo Essential, the motor draws more current when the filter is partially blocked — the robot compensates by ramping fan speed, which spikes draw beyond what a degraded cell can sustain at full voltage. The result is visible suction loss while the battery indicator still shows mid-charge. This is voltage sag under load, not a capacity reading. Check and clean the filter first; if suction stabilises, the cell was simply being over-demanded.

Motor cutting out mid-cycle and then recovering on its own

This pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a power failure. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, full dustbin, or hair wrap on the brush roll — the motor pulls sustained high current and the BMS cuts the circuit to protect the cell. The robot pauses, current drops, and the BMS resets. Clear the restriction, then place the robot back on the dock for at least 15 minutes before restarting to allow the BMS to fully reset before the next cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roomba Combo Essential returns to the dock way earlier than it used to — is the new battery the problem or something else?

Early dock return on a new cell usually points to a partially blocked filter, not the battery itself. A restricted filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which triggers the BMS to throttle output and the robot interprets that as low power. Clean the filter and empty the dustbin, then run a full cycle. If the robot still cuts short, check that the battery is seating fully in the bay — a loose connection causes intermittent voltage drop that the robot reads as depletion.

The robot charges fine but loses suction fast on carpet even though the indicator shows plenty of battery left — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under heavy motor load. On thick carpet the brush motor draws more current than on hard floors, and if the cell's internal resistance has risen — either from age or from being stored deeply discharged — the voltage drops mid-draw even though capacity looks fine on the indicator. Check the cell's resting voltage with a multimeter after a full charge; it should sit at or above 16.4V. If it reads below 15.8V at rest after a full charge cycle, the cell is not holding charge correctly.

My Roomba Combo Essential won't charge on the dock after I fitted the replacement battery — the dock light just blinks and the robot doesn't respond.

The Combo Essential's charger runs a BMS handshake before it starts current flow — if that handshake fails, the dock blinks and charging never begins. First, reseat the battery firmly and try placing the robot manually on the dock contacts rather than letting it self-dock. If the light still blinks, wipe the dock contacts and the robot's charge terminals with a dry cloth to remove any oxidation. A successful handshake will show a solid charge indicator within 30 seconds of contact.
