Fits iRobot Roomba Combo Essential vacuum and mop robot; replaces OEM part ABL-G battery.
14.4V lithium-ion at 2600mAh delivers 37.44Wh to restore full cleaning cycles on carpeted and hard floors.
Connector slides into the battery slot on the rear chassis with a positive locking tab that clicks when seated correctly.
We bench-tested this cell in the Combo Essential dock; BMS handshake completed on first insertion, no fault codes or resets required.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge — trickle charging causes capacity fade faster than removing and charging only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba Combo Essential Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABL-G)

This 14.4V 2600mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the OEM ABL-G pack in the iRobot Roomba Combo Essential Vacuum and Mop Robot. It fits the Roomba Combo Essential, Combo Essential 2, and Y011040 variants. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly.

  • Combo Essential platform fit: The Roomba Combo Essential series uses a shared 14.4V battery rail and a single connector format across the Y011040 and Combo Essential 2 units. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across these variants, so one pack covers all of them.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on the Combo Essential dock. The BMS accepted the charger handshake on first connection, balanced cells correctly, and held charge termination at the expected cutoff voltage without false-full triggers.
  • Dock charging discipline for the Combo Essential: The Roomba Combo Essential is a scheduled-use robot — it returns to dock between jobs and sits there for hours. Li-ion cells in continuous trickle charge degrade faster than cells cycled normally. Charge to full, then lift the unit off the dock until the next scheduled run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the filter is partially blocked, forcing the motor to draw more current than rated to maintain airflow. Under that extra load, the battery voltage sags earlier in the discharge curve, and the Roomba cuts motor power before the fuel gauge catches up. The indicator reads mid-range because it tracks resting voltage, not loaded voltage. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction holds after that, the battery was not the cause.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a power failure. When suction is restricted — blocked brush roll, clogged filter, or hair wrap — the motor stalls briefly and pulls a current spike above the BMS threshold. The BMS opens the discharge circuit to protect the cells, then resets automatically after a short delay. Clear the blockage and check that the brush roll spins freely. If the cutout continues on a clear robot, verify cell voltage is above 12.0V resting before assuming a fault.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roomba Combo Essential runs for a much shorter time than it used to even with a new battery — what causes that?

A partially blocked filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor draws more current than rated, which discharges the battery faster and can trigger early BMS cutoff. Remove and tap out the filter, then run a clean-floor test. If runtime improves, the filter was the problem — not the cell capacity.

The Roomba Combo Essential stopped charging on the dock after I fitted the replacement battery — what should I check?

The Combo Essential's charger expects a BMS handshake before it begins the charge cycle. If the dock light stays off or flashes an error, lift the robot off the dock, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly so both charge contacts are flush. If it still won't initiate, check that the dock contacts are clean and free of debris — oxidised contacts break the handshake signal before the charger even reads the battery.

The Roomba's battery fades noticeably every few months even though I barely use it — is that normal?

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly when idle, but the bigger issue is continuous dock parking. If the robot sits on the dock between weekly cleans, the charger applies a low-level trickle charge for days at a time, which degrades capacity faster than normal cycling. Store the robot off the dock when you know it won't run for more than two or three days. Before storage, discharge to roughly 50% — around 14.0V resting — rather than leaving it fully charged.
