Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cecotec Conga 5290 / 8290 / 12090 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (86371)
This 14.4V 5200mAh Li-ion battery fits the Cecotec Conga 5290, 8290, 12090, and 12090 Twice Roller Home&Fill robotic vacuum cleaners. It replaces OEM part numbers 86371, 88560, and 91049. Capacity is 74.88Wh — consistent with the original cell specification.
- Conga 5290 to 12090 platform compatibility: These four models share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. The vacuum's main board expects a specific cell communication response on power-up — this battery meets that requirement across all four variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Conga unit. The BMS engaged overcurrent protection correctly under simulated motor-load spikes and released cleanly when current normalised. Charge acceptance reached full capacity without cutoff errors.
- Dock charging behaviour on the Conga platform: The Conga charges via a contact dock that does not cut power when the cell reaches full capacity. Leaving the vacuum on the dock continuously accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Charge to full, then remove from the dock until the next cleaning cycle.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on Conga models
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS threshold allows — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll, not a weak battery. The BMS reads the elevated current draw as a potential fault and reduces output to protect the cell. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before assuming the battery is at fault. If suction recovers immediately after cleaning, the battery was not the cause.
Conga powers on but motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers
This is a BMS overcurrent trip — the motor briefly pulls above the safe current ceiling, the BMS disconnects, and then reconnects once current drops. It happens most often on thick carpet or when the suction path is restricted. The battery itself is not faulty; the BMS is doing its job. Clear the filter and check the intake path, then confirm the battery resting voltage reads above 13.0V before ruling out a cell issue.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Conga was working fine but now it stops mid-clean, sits for a few seconds, then starts again — is that the battery dying?
That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not cell failure. The motor pulls above the safe current ceiling — usually because the filter is clogged or the brush roll is jammed — and the BMS disconnects briefly to protect the cell. Clean the filter and clear the brush roll first. If the problem stops, the battery was never the issue; if it continues on a clean vacuum, check the resting cell voltage — a healthy pack at rest should read above 13.0V.
The Conga's battery faded fast after I installed it — it was good for the first few weeks but now it barely covers one room. What went wrong?
Continuous dock charging is the most common cause of early capacity fade on Conga units. The dock keeps supplying charge current after the cell is full, and Li-ion cells degrade faster under that sustained trickle. Remove the vacuum from the dock once charging is complete and only return it when the cell is depleted. Going forward, charge to full and disconnect — this single change has the largest impact on long-term cell health.
My replacement battery isn't being recognised — the Conga just flashes the indicator light and won't start a cleaning cycle. What do I check?
The Conga's main board expects a BMS handshake on power-up before it will release the motor. If the indicator flashes without starting, reseat the battery connector firmly and confirm there is no debris on the contact pins. Then place the vacuum on the dock and allow a full charge cycle to complete — some units will not initialise a new cell until it has been charged from the dock at least once. After a full charge, press the start button; the board should recognise the pack and allow normal operation.
