Fits Cricket Source (N9511) smartphones; replaces OEM battery part N9511.
3.8V and 2000mAh capacity restores full charge cycles on Source models that no longer hold power.
Internal connector slides straight into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on device housing.
We cycled the cell through five full discharge-charge runs; BMS accepted standard 5V USB input without fault codes on cycle one.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cricket Source / N9511 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery for the Cricket Source (model N9511). It fits directly into the phone once the original cell is removed. Use this when the existing battery no longer holds a charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.

  • Source / N9511 fit: Both model names refer to the same hardware platform. The phone uses a 3.8V nominal cell with a standard Li-ion BMS handshake — this battery meets that spec without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS accepted charge from the device's onboard charge IC without triggering a protection cutoff, and voltage output stayed stable under simulated screen and modem load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle before relying on the percentage readout. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle lets it map the new cell accurately before fast-charge current is introduced.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage-cliff failure. Under modem or display load, the cell's actual voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reads zero. The gauge still shows 20–30% because its coulomb counter was calibrated to a different discharge curve. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the coulomb counter against the real capacity of the new cell. After that cycle, the percentage readout tracks actual voltage correctly.

Phone feels warm near the battery during the first few charges

A new cell arrives with higher internal impedance than a well-cycled battery. During the first two or three charges, the charge IC pushes current into a cell that hasn't settled — that converts more energy to heat than usual. This is not a fault. Impedance drops as the cell cycles. If warmth persists past the third full charge or the phone gets hot enough to be uncomfortable, stop charging and check for a swollen cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Cricket Source shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — is the cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Source is still using the discharge curve mapped to the original worn battery, so it misreads the new cell's voltage and trips a shutdown before the counter reaches zero. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle forces the coulomb counter to remap against the actual capacity of the new cell.

The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months before installation — what's happening?

If the cell discharged below roughly 2.5V in storage, the BMS locks out to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once voltage recovers past that point, the BMS releases and the phone powers on normally.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my Cricket Source — the phone only charges slowly now.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on a new battery may not immediately respond to the device's fast-charge negotiation handshake. The charge IC defaults to standard 5V current as a safe fallback. Complete one full charge at standard speed, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — most Source units will renegotiate the charge protocol correctly on the second session once the BMS has completed its first full cycle.
