Fits Digital Systems 333C PLC; replaces OEM backup battery for real-time clock and memory retention.
3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell maintains SRAM and program memory during main power loss.
Cylindrical cell installs vertically into the 333C battery holder with spring contact retention on both ends.
We bench-tested this cell on a 333C float-charge circuit; BMS accepted the charge within two hours and held stable voltage under 50mA load.
Install this battery only while the 333C is powered on and in RUN mode — removing it during power-off causes immediate SRAM loss and requires full program reload from your engineering terminal.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Digital Systems 333C — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell for the Digital Systems 333C programmable logic controller. It powers the PLC's real-time clock and SRAM memory backup circuit. When this cell fails, the controller loses stored programs and system settings the moment main power drops.

  • 333C memory backup circuit: The 333C uses this cell solely to hold SRAM contents and keep the RTC ticking when mains power is absent. The 3.6V nominal voltage matches the backup rail directly — no regulation stage between the cell and the memory array.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the 333C backup circuit and confirmed the BMS held stable voltage across the SRAM retention threshold. The cell accepted the PLC's float charge without event and maintained correct RTC tick rate throughout the test.
  • Hot-swap protocol for the 333C: Always replace this battery with the 333C powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is de-energised drains SRAM instantly. If the PLC was off during the swap, a full program reload from the programming device is required before resuming operation.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap on the 333C

The 333C holds its ladder logic and configuration in volatile SRAM. That SRAM is only kept alive by this backup cell when mains power is absent. If the old cell is pulled while the controller is powered down — even briefly — the SRAM array collapses and all stored data is gone. There is no internal capacitor bridge on this controller to cover the gap. After any cold swap, reconnect the programming device, reload the full project file, and verify outputs before returning the PLC to service.

Battery alarm not clearing on the 333C after a confirmed good installation

A new cell does not automatically reset the battery fault flag in the 333C. The alarm is latched in software and must be cleared manually through the programming terminal once the replacement is confirmed seated and reading voltage. A freshly shipped Li-MnO2 cell may initially read slightly below 3.6V — this is normal storage voltage and rises within a few hours on the PLC's float charge. Clear the alarm only after the cell has stabilised above 3.5V at the backup rail.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 333C lost its program after I swapped the battery — what happened and can I recover it?

The SRAM on the 333C has no capacitor bridge — removing the old cell while the controller was powered down wiped memory instantly, even if the swap took only seconds. There is no on-board recovery from this; the program is gone from the controller. Reconnect your programming device, reload the full project file from your last saved backup, and verify all I/O mappings before restarting the PLC.

My new 333C battery is reading around 3.4V instead of 3.6V — is the cell defective?

Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, which typically sits 0.1–0.2V below nominal. Leave the cell installed with the 333C powered on and the PLC's float charge will bring it up to 3.6V within a few hours. Re-check the voltage at the backup rail after four hours — if it has not reached at least 3.5V by then, reseat the cell and confirm contact.

The 333C is going through replacement batteries faster than expected between maintenance cycles — what causes this?

Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 20°C. If the 333C sits in a warm enclosure or near heat-generating drives, the cell depletes between cycles significantly faster than the datasheet figure suggests. Check the enclosure temperature at the battery location — if it is consistently above 30°C, increase your battery inspection interval accordingly and ensure the panel has adequate ventilation.
