Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dolphin 7900 / 9500 / 9550 / 9900 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (200-00591-01)
This 7.4V 2200mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 200-00591-01 in the Dolphin 7900, 9500, 9550, and 9900 handheld barcode scanners. These are rugged mobile terminals used in warehouse, retail, and logistics environments for barcode scanning and inventory management. Voltage and cell count match the original pack exactly.
- 7900 / 9500 / 9550 / 9900 platform fit: All four models share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-ion architecture, battery bay dimensions, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers the full series without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the 7900 platform. The BMS responded correctly to the cradle charge signal, balanced both cells, and held cutoff voltage within spec under sustained scan-plus-wireless load.
- First-shift prep for pick-and-pack use: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before sending it to the floor. The scan trigger draws peak inrush current at low state-of-charge — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips on the first shift.
Cradle showing charging error on a new pack
The Dolphin cradle checks contact resistance before initiating the charge sequence. If the gold-plated contacts on the battery or dock have handling residue, the dock interprets high resistance as a fault and throws a charge error. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat firmly. The error clears and charging begins once contact resistance drops below the dock's threshold — typically under 100mΩ.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the imager and wireless radio draw simultaneously, creating a combined inrush spike that can momentarily sag cell voltage. If the BMS reads that sag as an under-voltage event, it trips and drops power to the radio — the scanner stays on but the wireless link drops. This is most common when the pack is below 30% charge. Keep the pack above half charge during high-frequency scanning shifts, and ensure the cradle tops it up during breaks rather than just standby-charging overnight.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dolphin 7900 scanner isn't reading barcodes after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The laser or imager module needs minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack shipped at storage charge (~40–50%) may not meet that threshold under load. Place the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before use. Once the pack reaches 8.0V or above at the terminals, the imager should fire at full power and reads will resume normally.
The cradle shows a charging error as soon as I insert the new battery — is the pack faulty?
Not necessarily. The Dolphin cradle measures contact resistance before starting the charge sequence, and any residue on the battery's gold contacts will trigger a fault. Remove the pack, wipe the contacts on both the battery and the cradle dock with a dry lint-free cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and check the indicator again. The error clears once resistance drops below the dock's detection threshold.
The scanner runs warm after a long picking shift — is that normal with this pack?
Heat buildup on the 7900 during extended shifts comes from sustained simultaneous draw — imager firing, wireless radio polling, and display backlight all running in an enclosed housing with no active cooling. This is a housing and workload factor, not a cell defect. If surface temperature stays below 45°C to the touch, the pack is operating within Li-ion limits. If it feels hotter than that, reduce scan burst frequency or rotate a second charged pack mid-shift to let the housing cool.
