Fits Cassidian TH1N radio; replaces OEM part numbers BLN-10, BLN-11, and HT9980AA.
3.7V 3150mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full transmit power on the TH1N platform without mid-shift sag.
Connector mates directly to TH1N battery slot with positive terminal alignment and secured by radio's retention clip.
We bench-tested this pack at sustained transmit load; BMS accepted dock handshake on first insertion without fault indication.
On first charge in a TH1N dock, the bar indicator may show one bar lower than expected—this is normal storage voltage settling, not a cell defect.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

EADS Cassidian TH1N — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLN-10)

This 3.7V 3150mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the BLN-10, BLN-11, and HT9980AA packs in the Cassidian TH1N handheld transceiver. The TH1N is a compact land mobile radio used by professional and emergency services personnel. Voltage and capacity match the original spec exactly — no modification needed.

  • TH1N platform fit: The Cassidian TH1N uses a dedicated Li-Polymer pack with a specific connector pitch and BMS handshake sequence. All three OEM part numbers — BLN-10, BLN-11, and HT9980AA — share the same voltage rail and physical form factor, which is why this single replacement covers all variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through PTT transmit loads to confirm BMS behaviour under the current spike that occurs each time the radio keys up. The protection circuit held within spec and the dock accepted the pack after a standard contact seating cycle.
  • First insertion into the charger dock: If the dock LED shows a fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TH1N charging dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging begins — this is not a battery fault.

Why the TH1N cuts out mid-transmission on a freshly inserted pack

Every PTT press on the TH1N draws a sharp current spike as the RF stage powers up for transmission. If the BMS sees that spike against a cell sitting at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V to 3.75V — it can trip the overcurrent threshold and cut output before the transmission completes. This is a BMS protection event, not a cell failure. Running two or three short transmissions in succession allows the BMS to confirm stable current delivery and the cutouts stop.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new pack

The TH1N reads battery level using a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it samples cell voltage and maps it to a bar count. A new pack shipped at storage voltage sits below the threshold for a full bar reading, so the radio shows one bar fewer than capacity actually warrants. This is not a fault. Seat the pack in the dock, run a full charge cycle to 4.2V, and the bar indicator will read correctly from that point forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

My TH1N cuts out every time I press PTT — is the new battery defective?

It is not defective. When a new Li-Polymer pack ships at storage voltage, the BMS trips on the transmit current spike before confirming the cell is stable. Key up two or three short transmissions in a low-draw situation — the BMS learns the load profile and the cutouts stop. If the behaviour continues after a full charge cycle to 4.2V, check the battery contacts for debris.

The charger dock LED is blinking a fault code and never switches to charging — what's wrong?

The TH1N dock requires a clean BMS handshake through the gold contact strip before it accepts the pack for charging. Remove the battery, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it with firm pressure until you feel it click. If the fault LED persists, the pack is likely below the dock's acceptance voltage after extended storage — place the pack in a radio and key up briefly to draw the cell up slightly, then return it to the dock.

The radio drops to reduced TX power partway through a long shift — battery or radio fault?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a radio fault. As the cell discharges, voltage drops under the continuous load of repeated transmissions, and the TH1N steps down TX power to protect the circuit. It is normal behaviour as the pack approaches its lower discharge threshold. Swap in a fully charged pack and confirm the high-power TX mode returns — if it does, the original pack has reached end of charge for that cycle.
