Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TETRA Cassidian TH1N — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLN-10)
This 3.7V, 1550mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the BLN-10, BLN-11, and HT9980AA packs in the Cassidian TH1N portable TETRA radio. The TH1N is a professional land mobile radio used in emergency services and enterprise comms. Slim at 6.70mm thick, the pack slots into the standard battery bay without modification.
- TH1N platform fit: The BLN-10, BLN-11, and HT9980AA are all 3.7V Li-Polymer packs built to the same physical and electrical spec for the TH1N. They share the same connector pinout and BMS handshake protocol, so all three OEM part numbers draw from the same replacement.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and transmit loads on the TH1N platform. The BMS handled PTT-triggered current spikes without tripping into protection mode, and the cell voltage held stable across sustained RF output.
- First insertion into the TH1N dock: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TH1N dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.
TH1N bar indicator showing fewer bars than expected on a new BLN-10 pack
New Li-Polymer cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V to 3.7V, not a full 4.2V charge. The TH1N reads pack voltage through fixed threshold steps and converts that to bar segments. A pack at storage voltage will show one or two bars even though the cell is healthy. Charge the pack fully in the dock before judging capacity. Once the cell reaches 4.2V, the indicator will reflect the correct state.
TH1N drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a charged pack
Sustained RF output draws significantly more current than standby, and Li-Polymer cells show voltage sag under that load. If the pack voltage dips below the radio's TX threshold during a long transmission, the TH1N steps down output power to protect the circuit — this is not a BMS fault. Check resting voltage after the shift ends: if it recovers above 3.7V within a few minutes, the cell is fine and the sag was load-induced. If resting voltage sits below 3.5V, the cell is at end of life and needs replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TH1N charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging — the new BLN-10 pack is inserted correctly, so what's wrong?
The dock is rejecting the pack because the cell voltage is below the dock's acceptance threshold, which is common on packs shipped in storage state. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it firmly to complete the BMS handshake. If the fault LED persists, try a different dock if one is available — some TH1N docks with worn contacts fail to read the BMS signal cleanly. A successful handshake will show a steady charge LED within 30 seconds of insertion.
The TH1N cuts out completely mid-transmission even though the battery showed two bars before the call — is the pack faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead cell. When PTT is pressed, transmit current spikes sharply, and if the BMS sees that spike as exceeding its protection threshold — especially on a cold pack or one below 3.8V — it cuts the output to protect the cell. Remove the pack, wait 10 seconds, reinsert, and allow it to reach a full charge before the next shift. If the cutout repeats consistently on a fully charged pack, check that the battery contacts in the radio bay are clean and making firm contact.
After storing the TH1N unused for several months with the BLN-10 inside, the radio won't power on at all — is the battery recoverable?
Extended storage with the pack installed drains the cell into deep discharge, and the BMS locks out to prevent damage once voltage drops below roughly 2.5V. Place the pack in the TH1N dock and leave it connected for at least 15 minutes — some chargers apply a low-current pre-charge trickle to bring the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the dock shows no activity after 20 minutes, remove the pack, wait 60 seconds, and reseat it to trigger a fresh handshake attempt. If voltage does not recover above 3.0V after a full trickle cycle, the cell has sustained permanent damage and the pack should be replaced.
