Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TETRA Cassidian TH1N — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BLN-10)
This is a 3.7V 3150mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Cassidian TH1N portable professional radio. It also cross-references OEM part numbers BLN-11 and HT9980AA. Fit the TH1N directly — no tools, no modification.
- Cassidian TH1N platform fit: The TH1N runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-Polymer pack with a multi-pin connector that carries both power and BMS data to the radio's charging circuit. All three OEM part numbers — BLN-10, BLN-11, HT9980AA — share this same connector pinout and voltage rail, which is why they are interchangeable on this platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through a full charge-discharge cycle and confirmed the BMS trips correctly on overcurrent and recovers cleanly on recharge. Transmit current spikes on PTT did not trigger false lockout during our test session.
- First dock insertion on the TH1N charger: If the charger shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TH1N dock needs a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it will begin charging.
Why the TH1N drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a fresh battery
The TH1N monitors pack voltage in real time and steps down transmit power when voltage sags below its internal threshold — even on a new cell at partial charge. A new Li-Polymer pack ships at storage voltage, typically around 3.6–3.7V open circuit. Under sustained RF output, that storage charge delivers less headroom than a fully topped cell, so the radio interprets the sag as a low-battery condition and reduces TX power to protect the circuit. Charge the pack fully before the first shift and this behaviour stops.
Bar indicator reads one bar fewer than expected after fitting the BLN-10
The TH1N uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — it reads cell voltage and maps it to bars, nothing more. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower voltage band, so the display shows one fewer bar even though the cell is healthy and at near-full capacity. This is not a fault in the battery or the radio. Charge the pack completely in the TH1N dock until the charger LED goes solid green, then reinsert — the bar indicator will reflect the correct charge state at or above 4.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The TH1N cuts out completely the moment I press PTT — is the new BLN-10 faulty?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a defective cell. The transmit current spike when PTT is pressed can exceed the BMS threshold if the pack is at storage voltage rather than fully charged. Charge the battery completely before first use and the BMS will have enough headroom to handle the PTT surge without tripping. If cutout continues on a full charge, clean the contact strip and reseat the pack to rule out a connection resistance issue.
My TH1N charger dock blinks a fault LED continuously and never starts charging the new pack — what's happening?
The dock rejection LED usually means the pack voltage is below the charger's acceptance threshold, which is common on a new Li-Polymer cell fresh from storage. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reinsert it firmly to ensure the BMS handshake completes. If the fault LED persists, leave the pack inserted for 60 seconds — some TH1N charger variants require a brief hold before they recognise a new BMS. The dock should transition to charge mode once it reads a valid cell above approximately 3.0V.
The TH1N radio sat unused for several months with the old battery inside — now the new BLN-10 won't bring it back to life. Is the radio damaged?
The radio is almost certainly fine. Extended storage with a deeply discharged pack can cause the TH1N to hold the power rail low until it sees a cell above its minimum boot voltage. Insert the new BLN-10, place it on charge in the dock for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power the radio on, and the radio's power circuit should initialise normally. If the radio still won't boot after a full charge cycle, check that the battery connector pins on the radio body are clean and making full contact.
