Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

EE Mini 2 4G LTE — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 3.7V 2150mAh Li-ion battery is a direct replacement for the EE Mini 2 4G LTE mobile hotspot. It fits the compact internal bay and restores the device's ability to broadcast portable Wi-Fi over 4G LTE cellular networks. Capacity is sourced from manufacturer cell specifications at 2150mAh (7.96Wh).
- EE Mini 2 4G LTE fit: The Mini 2 uses a single internal Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal to power both the 4G LTE modem radio and the Wi-Fi broadcast subsystem simultaneously. This battery matches that voltage rail and the physical dimensions of the original cell — 57.20 x 51.30 x 5.86mm — so the connector seats correctly and the BMS handshake completes on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the Mini 2 platform. The BMS completed charge termination cleanly at 4.2V and engaged low-voltage cutoff without tripping a fault state. Both the modem and Wi-Fi radios remained active under combined load throughout testing.
- Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the Mini 2 in an open, ventilated spot when it is running for long periods. When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum output power. That sustained RF load generates heat that the small enclosure cannot shed easily, and heat shortens Li-ion cell life faster than charge cycles alone.
Why the Mini 2 cuts connected devices mid-session under full load
The Mini 2 runs two radios at the same time — the 4G LTE modem and the Wi-Fi access point. When several devices connect simultaneously, total current draw spikes sharply. If the battery cell has any internal resistance above spec, pack voltage sags below the BMS protection threshold during those peaks, and the BMS trips a cutoff to protect the cell. The hotspot reboots, dropping every connected session. A fresh cell with low internal resistance holds voltage stable through those combined draw spikes without triggering the BMS.
Mini 2 won't power on after sitting unused for weeks
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. The Mini 2's BMS requires pack voltage above roughly 3.0V to allow boot — below that threshold it blocks power-on to prevent cell damage from deep discharge. If the device has been stored flat for several weeks, the cell may have drifted below that boot floor. Connect the Mini 2 to its charger and leave it for at least 20–30 minutes before attempting to power it on, giving the charger time to recover the cell to a voltage the BMS will accept — typically 3.2V or above.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Mini 2 keeps dropping all connected devices for a few seconds then comes back — happens more when everyone in the house is on it. Is the battery causing this?
Yes, this is a voltage sag issue at the battery level. When multiple devices connect at once, the combined draw from the 4G modem and Wi-Fi radio pulls a current spike the battery struggles to sustain. If the cell's internal resistance is elevated, pack voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold during those peaks, tripping a brief shutdown. Replace the battery and confirm it holds voltage steady — the BMS should not trip under normal multi-device load on a fresh cell.
The Mini 2 battery drains noticeably faster in areas with weak 4G signal. Is something wrong with this replacement battery?
Nothing is wrong — this is normal cellular radio behaviour. In poor signal areas, the 4G LTE modem increases transmit power to maintain the network connection, drawing significantly more current than it would at full signal strength. That extra modem load is additive on top of the constant Wi-Fi broadcast draw, so the battery depletes faster. Move the Mini 2 closer to a window or higher up to improve signal reception, which reduces transmit power and brings current draw back down.
After the Mini 2 sat in a drawer for two months, it won't turn on at all — even with the charger plugged in. How do I recover it?
The battery has likely discharged below the BMS boot threshold, around 3.0V. The BMS blocks power-on below that level to prevent cell damage. Plug in the charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charger needs time to raise cell voltage back to a level the BMS will accept before boot is possible. If the charge indicator light activates within a few minutes of connecting, the recovery is working; wait until voltage reaches at least 3.2V before attempting to power on.
