Fits Emporia Active V50 and Active V50 4G phones; replaces OEM battery part number AK-V50-4G.
3.7V, 1050mAh capacity delivers enough charge for full-day calls, texts, and basic functions on this senior-focused device.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the phone chassis.
We bench-tested this cell on the Emporia platform; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new BMS handshake without fault codes on first insertion.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle with fast charging disabled — this lets the fuel gauge recalibrate to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Active V50 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AK-V50-4G)

This is a 3.7V, 1050mAh Li-ion battery for the Emporia Active V50 and Active V50 4G. It replaces OEM part AK-V50-4G directly. The Active V50 is a senior-oriented mobile phone — this battery restores its core functions: calls, texts, and basic navigation.

  • Active V50 and Active V50 4G fit: Both variants run the same 3.7V cell footprint and share the AK-V50-4G connector and BMS handshake. The 4G model adds a modem radio, which draws burst current during LTE connection — the cell specification accounts for that load.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Active V50 4G. The BMS accepted charge from the stock charger without fault flags. Voltage held steady across modem-active periods with no premature cutoff.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC a full reference curve against the new cell before it starts reporting accurate percentages.

Why the Active V50 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Active V50 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its charge estimate from the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the IC's coulomb counter starts out of sync. This shows up as the percentage jumping around or stalling at a fixed number. One full discharge-charge cycle resets the reference and brings the reported percentage back in line with actual capacity.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the modem's minimum operating threshold under LTE load — even though the OS still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge reads average voltage, but a burst transmission pulls instantaneous current that drops cell voltage below 3.2V momentarily, triggering a protective shutdown. It is most common in the first few cycles before the IC recalibrates. After two full discharge-charge cycles, the cutoff point typically shifts back toward the expected low single-digit percentage range.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Emporia Active V50 shuts off by itself when it still shows 25% battery — is the new cell faulty?

Not usually. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so its percentage reading doesn't match the new cell's actual voltage behaviour yet. Under LTE or call load, the new cell's voltage dips below the modem's floor before the gauge hits zero — triggering a shutdown. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption and the cutoff point will shift back toward the correct low-percentage range.

The Active V50 percentage jumps from 60% to 40% and then back up — what causes that?

The coulomb counter in the fuel gauge IC is working off reference data built for the original cell. A new cell with different internal impedance throws the estimate off, causing erratic percentage swings. This is not a fault with the cell itself. One complete uninterrupted discharge to auto-shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% resets the IC's reference curve and stabilises the reading.

The phone won't turn on after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — how do I recover it?

When a Li-ion cell sits discharged for an extended period, voltage can fall below 2.5V per cell, which triggers the BMS lockout to prevent damage. Connect the phone to its original charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release and allow normal startup. If voltage has recovered above 3.0V, the phone will boot on its own.
