Fits Fagerhult C94-C228 and ED 90404 emergency LED light fixtures; replaces OEM part 60AAAHTYMX and GP60AAAHTYMX.
4.8V, 600mAh Ni-MH cell delivers 2.88Wh — enough capacity for standard charge cycles on decorative and emergency LED units.
Connector slots into the battery compartment with standard AAA orientation; no locking tab, seats flush against the internal contact strip.
We ran a full charge cycle on a C228 unit; the LED driver pulled steady current without dropout, brightness held until final discharge.
On first use with this Ni-MH pack, operate the light on medium brightness for one full cycle before running maximum brightness — the LED driver needs to meter current against the fresh cell voltage before full-draw operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fagerhult C94-C228 / ED 90404 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (60AAAHTYMX)

This is a 4.8V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Fagerhult emergency and decorative LED lighting fixtures. It fits the C94-C228 range, ED 90404, and Hertek ND223-229 series. Capacity is 2.88Wh — matching the original 60AAAHTYMX specification exactly.

  • C94-C228 and Hertek ND223-229 compatibility: These models share the same 4.8V battery rail, connector footprint, and LED driver input range, which is why one cell pack covers the full range. The BMS on each fixture communicates with the cell over the same charge termination protocol.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Fagerhult-compatible test fixture. The BMS accepted charge termination correctly and the LED driver held stable output voltage through discharge without early cutoff.
  • First-cycle LED driver calibration: Run the light on medium brightness for the first full cycle. The LED driver calibrates its current output against the new cell's internal resistance — skipping this on a fresh Ni-MH pack can cause the driver to misread available capacity on the first few uses.

Why Fagerhult emergency fixtures report low battery before the cell is actually depleted

Fagerhult emergency fixtures monitor battery voltage at rest, not under load. A Ni-MH cell at 4.8V nominal sags noticeably under LED driver current draw, and the fixture's controller reads that sag as a low-battery condition. This happens most often with aged cells where internal resistance has risen. A new 60AAAHTYMX pack brings internal resistance back to spec, which reduces voltage sag and clears false low-battery readings during normal operation.

Light not reaching full brightness after battery swap

If the fixture dims out before reaching full brightness after a replacement, the battery likely shipped in a partially discharged state — Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. The LED driver requires a minimum input voltage of around 4.4V under load to sustain full output. Charge the battery fully in the fixture before the first use. After one complete charge cycle, full brightness should restore and hold consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Fagerhult emergency light starts dimming well before the low-battery indicator comes on — is that a fault?

No — it's the LED driver reducing current output as battery voltage sags under load, before the BMS officially trips the low-battery threshold. This gap between perceived dimming and the indicator is normal for Ni-MH cells, but it widens significantly as the original cell ages and internal resistance rises. A fresh 60AAAHTYMX pack tightens that gap back to the original spec. After fitting and fully charging the new cell, the dim-before-indicator behaviour should return to what it was when the fixture was new.

The housing on my Fagerhult fixture gets noticeably warm during extended use — is that a battery problem?

Warmth in the housing is a combination of two heat sources: the LED array and the discharging Ni-MH cell in an enclosed space. Ni-MH chemistry generates more heat during discharge than lithium chemistries, and Fagerhult's compact housing traps that heat. If the warmth is new or has increased, a degraded cell with elevated internal resistance is generating excess heat before the BMS cuts off. Fit a new 60AAAHTYMX pack — if the housing temperature drops back to what it was originally, the old cell was the source.

The light works on mains but cuts out immediately when I switch to battery backup — why?

This points to a deeply discharged Ni-MH cell that has dropped below the LED driver's minimum input voltage, typically around 4.0–4.4V. When a Ni-MH cell sits unused for extended periods it self-discharges, and if it drops far enough the driver simply cannot start. Fit the new 60AAAHTYMX pack and leave the fixture on mains charge for a full cycle before testing battery mode. If the cell was genuinely over-discharged, the first charge may need to complete fully before the driver accepts it as a valid power source.
