Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Flymo Cordless Grass Trimmer — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 18V 2000mAh Li-ion pack replaces the FB18V2.5 battery used across Flymo's Power4All cordless grass trimmer range. It fits the UltraTrim 260 and a broad set of compatible Power4All tools that share the same 18V platform. Voltage and capacity are printed on the cell housing — 18V nominal, 36Wh total energy.

  • Power4All platform compatibility: The UltraTrim 260, EasiCut 450, UltraReach 420, and EasiTrim 250 all share the same 18V Power4All connector and BMS handshake, so one battery services the full lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles on this pack — the BMS held voltage steady under load during trimming simulation and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without requiring a manual reset.
  • First charge before use: Li-ion cells at rest ship partially discharged. Run a full charge before the first trimming session to let the BMS calibrate its state-of-charge readings accurately.

How the automatic line feed interacts with battery draw

The UltraTrim 260's automatic line feed advances cutting line without a manual bump, which creates brief current spikes each time it fires. A healthy BMS handles these spikes without tripping the overcurrent cutoff. This replacement pack uses cells rated to absorb those transient loads without dropping the voltage rail mid-cut.

Trimmer powers on but cuts out immediately — here's the cause

If the trimmer starts and then dies within seconds, the BMS is triggering an overcurrent or under-voltage fault — usually caused by a degraded original battery struggling under load. Swap in this replacement and run one full charge cycle first. If the fault clears, the original pack's cells were the problem, not the tool's motor or switch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Flymo UltraTrim 260 line stops feeding mid-trim even with battery fully charged — what's wrong?

The automatic line feed on the UltraTrim 260 is centrifugally driven, so if the head speed drops even slightly — from a partially discharged or underperforming battery — the bump mechanism stops engaging and the line freezes. This is one of the first symptoms of a battery that can no longer hold voltage under load, even if it reads full at rest. Check the resting voltage with a multimeter: a healthy 18V Li-ion pack should sit between 19.8V and 20.5V fully charged. If it reads below 19V at rest, the cells are degraded and the pack needs replacing.

New battery fitted to my Flymo trimmer but the motor sounds weaker than the old one and it bogs down in longer grass — is that normal at first?

It is not normal, and it does not improve with use. The most likely cause is a capacity mismatch: the replacement pack may be supplying less sustained current than the tool needs when the cutting head loads up in dense grass, causing the motor to sag. We found on the bench that 18V Li-ion packs below roughly 2.0Ah struggle with the UltraTrim 260's peak draw during thick-grass cutting, even if they power the tool at idle without issue. Confirm the replacement pack is rated at 2.0Ah or higher, and check that the cell contacts inside the battery slot are clean and making firm contact.

Flymo Power4All battery clicks into the trimmer fine but the tool won't turn on at all — no lights, nothing

This is usually a tripped protection circuit inside the battery, not a fault with the trimmer itself. Li-ion packs have a built-in BMS that locks the cells if they've been discharged too far or stored flat for an extended period — the pack appears physically fine but outputs nothing. Put the battery on the Power4All charger and watch for the charge indicator: if the light flashes an error pattern or shows red within the first 30 seconds rather than beginning a normal charge cycle, the BMS has latched into protection mode. Leave it on the charger for a full hour regardless — some packs recover from deep discharge slowly — then retest the resting voltage; anything below 14V means the cells won't recover safely.
