18V Rapid RX1000 Heat Gun Replacement Battery 2.0Ah

My RX1000 cuts out after a few minutes of heat shrinking but the battery still shows charge on the LCD — why does it keep stopping?

High-heat operation at 550°C pulls serious current, and the gun's thermal protection circuit will trip the battery's BMS before the display reads empty — the cutoff is protecting the cells, not reflecting a true charge state. This happens more often with 2Ah packs under sustained full-temperature loads because the smaller cell count hits the discharge rate ceiling faster. Let the battery cool for five minutes, then restart at a lower temperature setting to confirm the pack recovers — if it does, the BMS is functioning correctly and the issue is draw versus capacity. Check the LCD battery indicator immediately after it shuts off; if it reads above two bars, thermal overcurrent is the cause, not a dead cell.

The RX1000 LCD shows full battery but the airflow feels weaker than it used to and heat output is uneven — is the battery causing that?

Uneven heat and reduced airflow on a charged pack usually means the battery is sagging under load — the resting voltage looks healthy but drops significantly the moment current demand spikes. Li-ion cells at 2Ah capacity are more sensitive to voltage sag than higher-capacity packs, and a few hundred shallow cycles can degrade the internal resistance enough to cause this symptom without the display catching it. Put a multimeter on the battery terminals while the gun is running on its highest setting; if voltage drops below 15V under load, cell degradation is confirmed. A healthy 18V Li-ion pack should hold above 16V during active draw on a tool like this.

I just put a new P4A battery on the RX1000 and it won't turn on at all — charger finished, light went green, but nothing happens when I press the power button

A freshly charged Li-ion pack that triggers no response at all usually means the BMS went into deep sleep during storage and hasn't fully recovered from the first charge cycle. Remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, reinsert it, and hold the power button for a full three seconds rather than a short press — some RX1000 units require a deliberate hold to wake from the initial connection state. If that fails, put the battery back on the charger for 15 minutes even though it showed green, then retry; a single charge cycle sometimes isn't enough to bring a storage-depleted pack above the gun's minimum startup threshold. Check the LCD on the gun when the battery is seated — if it shows no display at all, the pack voltage is likely still below the 12V floor the controller needs to initialise.
