Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GreenWorks 82V Cordless Lawn Mower & Outdoor Power Tools — 82V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 82V 4000mAh (328Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the GreenWorks 82V cordless power platform. It fits the GC82LM46 lawn mower and a range of tools including the GC82BC, GC82CS chainsaw, and 17+ additional models. One battery platform, multiple tools — that's the point of the 82V system.
- 82V platform compatibility: The G82B25, GL250, GL400, GL500, GL600, and GL900 all share the same 82V rail, connector format, and BMS communication protocol — which is why this single pack covers the full lineup.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran full charge/discharge cycles — the BMS held voltage steady under motor load and cut off cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without tripping the tool's protection circuit.
- First use on a brushless mower motor: Run a full charge before the first cut. Brushless motors draw higher peak current than brushed equivalents, so a partial charge on first use stresses the cells unevenly from the start.
Why 82V matters for a 46cm cutting deck
A 46cm deck pulling through thick or damp grass puts real sustained load on the motor. The 82V platform keeps current draw lower at equivalent power output compared to a 40V or 60V system, which reduces heat build-up in both the cells and the motor windings. At 328Wh, this pack has enough capacity to handle the GC82LM46's rated coverage area without the voltage sagging mid-job. Cell voltage stability under load is what keeps the brushless motor controller from throttling back output.
Battery not recognised by the tool — what's happening and how to fix it
If the mower or chainsaw shows a flashing fault light immediately after inserting the battery, the BMS handshake has failed. This usually happens when the battery has been stored discharged — the cell voltage drops below the tool's minimum recognition threshold. Connect the battery to a compatible 82V charger and leave it for 15–20 minutes before reinserting. Most GreenWorks 82V chargers include a recovery mode that trickle-charges deeply discharged packs back into the normal operating window.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GC82LM46 cuts fine for the first pass then bogs down and loses power on the second — is the battery dying or is something else wrong?
On high-draw brushless mowers, this pattern almost always points to thermal throttling rather than a failing cell — the pack heats up during the first pass and the BMS reduces output to protect it. Check whether the battery feels hot to the touch when the power drops; if it does, the fix is a 10–15 minute rest between passes to let the pack cool below 40°C. If the battery stays cool and the bog still happens, measure resting voltage after the second pass — a healthy 82V pack should read above 78V under no load. Consistently dropping below that points to cell imbalance, not heat.
Replaced the battery and now the mower deck judders and vibrates more than it did with the old pack — could a new battery cause that?
A new battery doesn't cause vibration directly, but a higher resting voltage from a fresh pack can briefly drive the brushless motor faster than the old worn-down pack did, which makes existing blade imbalance or a bent blade more obvious. Remove the blade and check it for nicks, uneven wear, or a slight curve along the cutting edge — any asymmetry that was masked before will be amplified with a fully charged 82V supply. Reinstall the blade and torque the center bolt to spec before assuming the battery or motor is the problem. If the judder disappears once the pack drops to mid-charge, an unbalanced blade is almost certainly the cause.
The 82V charger stopped mid-cycle and the LED is solid red — pulled the battery out and put it back in and nothing changed
A solid red fault light that persists after reseating the battery usually means the BMS detected a cell voltage that was either too low to safely charge or outside the temperature window when you plugged in. Leave the battery at room temperature (15–25°C) for 30 minutes, then try the charger again — cold packs pulled from a garage in winter trigger this constantly on 82V Greenworks hardware. If the fault clears and charging starts, you're fine; if it stays red after the pack has warmed up, measure the battery's output terminals with a multimeter — a reading below roughly 70V means one or more cells have discharged past recovery and the pack won't accept a charge cycle.
