Fits Garmin GPSMAP 276Cx; replaces OEM part 010-12456-06 and 361-00092-00.
3.7V, 6800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full capacity restore for this marine navigator.
Connector type and orientation match Garmin's battery slot; locking tab seats flush.
Bench testing showed clean BMS handshake on first insertion; voltage stable under draw.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin GPSMAP 276Cx — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (010-12456-06)

This is a 3.7V, 6800mAh Li-ion cell built to fit the Garmin GPSMAP 276Cx portable GPS navigator. It replaces OEM part numbers 010-12456-06 and 361-00092-00. The 276Cx is a marine and wilderness navigation unit — this battery restores full power to that platform.

  • GPSMAP 276Cx platform fit: The 276Cx uses a single-cell 3.7V pack with a specific connector pinout and BMS handshake. This cell matches that configuration — voltage rail, physical dimensions (74.70 × 42.70 × 21.75mm), and connector orientation all align with the OEM slot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the GPSMAP 276Cx platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, charge terminated cleanly at full voltage, and the unit powered on normally across multiple cold-start cycles.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After any full power interruption — including a battery swap — the 276Cx performs a GPS cold start. Power the unit on outdoors in open sky and let it run. First satellite fix typically takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data rebuilds.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery charge drops below 20%

The GPSMAP 276Cx scales back receiver sensitivity at low battery to reduce power draw. This shows up as increased position error or slower track updates on the map screen. It is not a hardware fault — it is a firmware-level power management response. Keep charge above 20% during active navigation to hold full receiver performance.

Device shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches empty

After a battery swap, the 276Cx voltage-to-percentage curve is uncalibrated against the new cell. The unit reads remaining capacity from cell voltage, and if the old calibration curve does not match the new cell's discharge profile, the low-battery warning triggers late. The unit then hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the visual indicator catches up. Run two to three full charge and discharge cycles to let the firmware recalibrate — cutoff should stabilise at 3.0V per cell after that.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GPSMAP 276Cx is taking forever to get a satellite fix after I put in the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's warm-start cache, forcing a full cold start on next power-on. The 276Cx needs to download fresh almanac and ephemeris data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. Subsequent power cycles after that first fix will lock in under a minute. Go outside, leave the unit stationary with a clear view of the sky, and let it finish.

I swapped the battery and now several saved routes and waypoints are missing from my 276Cx — where did they go?

The 276Cx stores most user data in internal flash memory, but some session-state data sits in battery-backed RAM. A full power removal — as happens during a battery swap — can flush that RAM. Waypoints and routes saved properly to the device's internal storage or an SD card before the swap should still be there. Check the SD card slot first, then restore from a Garmin BaseCamp backup if routes are missing from internal memory.

The 276Cx is chewing through this battery much faster during active navigation than it did in standby — is the new cell defective?

The cell is not defective. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously and keeps the display lit, which are the two largest power draws on the 276Cx. Standby or track-recording mode dims the screen and polls the receiver less aggressively. Reduce display brightness to 50% or lower in the display settings — that alone cuts screen draw significantly and extends charge between top-ups.
