Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Zumo XT2 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00166-00)
This 3.7V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the OEM battery in the Garmin Zumo XT2 motorcycle GPS navigator. It matches the original part number 361-00166-00 and fits directly into the Zumo XT2 chassis. Voltage and capacity are identical to the factory spec — 3.7V, 5000mAh (18.5Wh).
- Zumo XT2 fit: The XT2 uses a single flat Li-Polymer cell with a proprietary connector and integrated BMS handshake. This cell matches the original PCM layout and connector orientation, so the device powers on and reports state-of-charge correctly without throwing low-battery faults.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the Zumo XT2 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error, state-of-charge reporting tracked accurately across the charge curve, and the display showed no voltage-threshold anomalies.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors in open sky and let it run until it acquires a satellite fix before mounting it on the bike. The Zumo XT2 performs a GPS cold start after any full power interruption — first fix takes 5–10 minutes versus under a minute for a warm start once almanac data rebuilds.
Why the Zumo XT2 shuts off without warning on low battery
After a battery swap, the Zumo XT2's fuel gauge IC needs a full charge-to-discharge cycle to calibrate the cutoff threshold against the new cell. Until that cycle completes, the device may shut off abruptly at what the indicator shows as 20–30% remaining. The displayed percentage is an estimate based on the old cell's discharge curve — it does not reflect actual remaining charge in the new cell. Run one complete charge from 0% to 100% and back down to auto-off to reset the calibration baseline.
Saved routes missing after battery replacement
The Zumo XT2 stores active trip data and recently used POIs in battery-backed volatile RAM. When the original cell is removed, that RAM loses power and the buffer clears — any unsaved routes or recent destinations will not survive the swap. Saved favourites and map data stored in flash memory are unaffected and will persist. Before removing the old battery, sync routes to Garmin BaseCamp or export them via the device's trip planner to avoid losing them.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Zumo XT2 is taking forever to find satellites after I put in the new battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris data, which forces a cold start. The receiver needs to download fresh satellite positioning data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. Subsequent locks after that first fix will drop back under a minute. Stand outside away from buildings with the unit powered on and leave it until the satellite bar fills.
The Zumo XT2 battery indicator shows 25% but the unit just cuts out — why?
The fuel gauge IC calibrates its cutoff threshold against the cell it was trained on. A new cell has a slightly different discharge curve, so the percentage reading is off until the gauge re-learns it. Run one full cycle — charge to 100%, use the device until it shuts itself off on low battery, then charge back to 100% — and the threshold will recalibrate to the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, the indicator will align correctly with real remaining charge.
Active navigation drains the Zumo XT2 much faster than when it's just mounted and idle — is the battery faulty?
The battery is fine — active navigation stacks three high-draw loads simultaneously: the GPS receiver tracking satellites, the display at full brightness for map rendering, and the processor calculating turn-by-turn routing. Standby or parked mode drops GPS polling frequency and dims the screen, cutting draw significantly. Reduce display brightness one or two steps in Settings → Display and enable the auto-dim timeout to lower active navigation draw without affecting GPS accuracy.
