Fits Garmin fēnix 5X Plus models 010-01561-00 and 010-01561-20, replaces OEM battery 361-00093-00.
3.8V 4500mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers 17.1Wh — matches the original multisport watch power capacity.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with no locking tab; orientation marked on the cell body.
We ran full discharge cycles on bench; BMS voltage regulation held steady across GPS and display draw without throttling.
After fitting this cell, power the watch fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first lock versus under a minute for warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin fēnix 5X Plus — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00093-00)

This 3.8V 4500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin fēnix 5X Plus and compatible variants including 010-01561-00, 010-01561-20, A02895, and DGL51. It matches the OEM dimensions at 90.70 x 61.80 x 5.00mm and connects directly to the existing battery terminals inside the watch housing. Voltage and capacity figures come from product data — not estimated from third-party sources.

  • fēnix 5X series compatibility: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector orientation, and BMS voltage threshold. The 3.8V nominal rail is what the watch's power management IC expects — substitute a mismatched cell and the charge circuit will not negotiate correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the fēnix 5X platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without triggering fault codes. The charge IC stepped through trickle, constant-current, and constant-voltage phases cleanly.
  • Post-swap satellite initialisation: After fitting this cell, power the watch on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before using navigation. A cold start after full power removal takes 5–10 minutes for first fix. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced when battery level drops below 20%

The fēnix 5X Plus manages power across multiple subsystems — GPS receiver, barometric altimeter, heart rate sensor, and display backlight. At low battery states, the watch reduces receiver sensitivity to protect remaining charge for core timekeeping functions. This appears as position drift or wider accuracy circles on the map. Keeping the battery above 20% during active navigation avoids the receiver stepping down.

Watch shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reaches zero

This happens because the battery indicator is calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new or aged cell with a slightly different curve causes the voltage to drop sharply at the low end before the display has time to show a warning. The shut-off threshold on the fēnix 5X is around 3.2V — the indicator may still show one bar when the cell actually hits that floor. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles to let the watch recalibrate the capacity estimate against the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My fēnix 5X Plus lost all my saved courses and routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The fēnix 5X Plus stores saved courses in internal flash memory, which retains data without battery power. However, activity history and some route caches held in battery-backed RAM can be lost when power is fully removed. Before any battery swap, sync the watch to Garmin Connect to back up your data — courses stored in Connect re-sync automatically on the next connection.

Satellite lock is taking 7–8 minutes after fitting the new battery — something wrong with the GPS?

Nothing is wrong. Full power removal wipes the cached almanac and ephemeris data the GPS receiver uses to locate satellites quickly. Without that cache, the receiver has to download fresh orbital data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Stand outside away from tall buildings and let it complete one full cold-start acquisition — every lock after that will be under a minute.

Active navigation is draining the battery much faster than when the watch is just showing the time — why?

The GPS receiver and display are the two largest power draws on the fēnix 5X Plus. During active navigation both run continuously — the receiver polls satellites every second and the display stays lit at whatever brightness you have set. Lower screen brightness to one or two bars and disable wrist heart rate if you only need GPS tracking. That alone significantly reduces the drain rate during long outdoor sessions.
