Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Rand McNally TND-750 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (AHB865958)
This 3.7V, 5000mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the AHB865958 battery in the Rand McNally TND-750 GPS navigator. The TND-750 is a truck and automotive navigation device that runs on internal battery power when disconnected from a vehicle power source. Fit this cell when the original no longer holds a charge or the device shuts down unexpectedly during use.
- TND-750 fit: The AHB865958 is the sole internal cell for this navigator. Voltage, connector pinout, and physical dimensions — 61.00 × 58.20 × 8.20mm — match the original exactly, so the device's charging circuit and low-battery indicator read the new cell correctly from first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge passes on the TND-750 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge circuit reached full cutoff voltage at 4.2V as expected.
- Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the TND-750 on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. The GPS performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first fix typically takes 5–10 minutes, compared to under a minute on a warm start.
GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the TND-750
Some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity as battery voltage drops, prioritising power conservation over signal strength. On the TND-750 this can show up as position drift or slower route recalculation near the end of a charge cycle. The fix is straightforward: keep the device charged above 20% during active navigation. If accuracy issues appear mid-route, connect the device to vehicle power — the GPS receiver will restore full sensitivity within a few seconds of stable voltage.
TND-750 shutting off without warning before the battery indicator hits empty
After a full battery swap, the TND-750's fuel gauge is uncalibrated — it has no charge history for the new cell. The device may cut power abruptly at what looks like 15–20% remaining because the low-battery threshold was mapped to the old, degraded cell's discharge curve. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles to let the firmware recalibrate the indicator against the new cell's actual capacity. After that, the low-battery warning will trigger at the correct voltage, which is approximately 3.5V under load for this chemistry.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TND-750 lost all saved routes and truck settings after I swapped the battery — is that normal?
Yes. The TND-750 stores some user data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal wipes that volatile memory. Saved routes, custom POIs, and truck profile settings are the most common casualties. Export your routes to the SD card before any battery swap — the device's "Export" option in the route menu writes them to removable storage, which survives a power interruption.
Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged during the swap?
Nothing is damaged. Any full power interruption forces a cold start, which means the GPS receiver has lost its last known position, almanac data, and satellite ephemeris. It has to reacquire all of that from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. Subsequent lock times drop to under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt — park outside, let it fix once, and warm starts will be fast from that point on.
The TND-750 drains noticeably faster when actively navigating than when it's just sitting on the dash — what's pulling the extra power?
Active navigation runs the GPS receiver and the display at the same time, and the display is the heavier draw of the two. At maximum brightness, the screen alone accounts for a significant share of total power consumption. Drop brightness to 60–70% in the display settings and the drain rate falls considerably without making the screen unreadable in a truck cab. If the device is mounted near a vent, direct airflow onto the screen can also reduce the backlight level needed to stay visible.
