Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Uniden CT301 / DX Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT185)
This is a 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery for the Uniden CT301 and related cordless handsets including the DX1665, DX355, and DX419. It replaces OEM part numbers BT185 and AM468V. Fit this battery when your handset stops holding a charge or drops off calls within minutes of leaving the base.
- CT301 and DX series compatibility: These handsets share the same 3.6V single-cell NiMH pack format, identical connector pinout, and the same base station charge circuit. One battery services the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the CT301 base station and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from cold storage, reached full voltage without triggering the base's overcharge cutoff, and held standby draw within spec.
- First charge on NiMH cordless handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it there for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged and need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — a short first charge leaves you with noticeably less talk time from day one.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
NiMH cells don't deliver rated capacity on the first cycle — they typically need three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cell chemistry. If your CT301 talk time feels short after the first day, that's expected. Run the handset through full discharge and 16-hour base charges for three to five cycles. By cycle four, capacity should settle at or near the rated 600mAh.
Base station charge light not activating after battery swap
Uniden base stations check for a minimum acceptance voltage before starting the charge cycle. A new battery sitting in a warehouse can drop low enough that the base reads it as a fault and refuses to charge. If the charge light stays off, remove the battery, let it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, then reinstall and reseat firmly in the base. If the light still won't activate, confirm the handset contacts and base cradle contacts are clean — 3.6V on the meter at the battery terminals means the pack itself is not the fault.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Uniden CT301 drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is this the battery?
A new NiMH pack in a CT301 that drains overnight usually points to the handset not making full contact with the base cradle, not the battery itself. Check that the handset clicks firmly into the cradle and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean and free of oxidation. If the charge light stays solid and the pack still drains, the handset's standby draw may be pulling more current than the base can keep up with on a worn charge circuit. Wipe both contact points with a dry cloth and reseat the handset — the charge indicator light should confirm the circuit is closed.
My CT301 has noticeably shorter range after I fitted the new battery — what's causing that?
Range drop after a battery swap on NiMH cordless phones is almost always a voltage sag issue, not a pairing issue. When an NiMH cell isn't fully conditioned, its voltage dips under the RF transmit load — the handset's transmit power falls with it, and range shrinks. Run three to five full 16-hour charge cycles in the base before writing off the battery. After conditioning, the pack should sustain closer to 3.6V under transmit load and range should return to normal.
My CT301 won't pair with the base after replacing the battery — how do I get it back?
Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is fully interrupted — removing the old battery cuts all power and wipes the registration. Re-registering the CT301 to its base is straightforward: with the handset powered on and within one metre of the base, hold the page/find button on the base for five seconds until the handset enters registration mode, then follow the on-screen prompts. Once re-registered, the handset should pick up the base signal normally within 30 seconds.
