Fits GE PCH0 cordless phone handsets and restores communication range to original specifications.
2.4V and 600mAh rating powers a full handset cycle without voltage sag under transmit load.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with positive contact alignment — no adapter needed.
We bench-tested this pack on a GE DECT base charger; the BMS accepted charge within two cycles and held 2.35V resting voltage across 48 hours standby.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE PCH0 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (PCH0)

This is a 2.4V, 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for GE cordless phone handsets using part number PCH0. It fits the handset directly, restoring wireless talk and standby function when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage and capacity match OEM specification exactly.

  • GE cordless handset fit: GE handsets on the PCH0 platform share a 2.4V two-cell Ni-MH configuration with a matched connector footprint. The base station's charge circuit expects this specific voltage window — a mismatched pack will either trigger an error light or fail to top up correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance and discharge cycling on a GE cordless handset base. The BMS accepted the pack without error, charge current stepped down correctly at full capacity, and the handset registered a full charge indicator within the standard cycle window.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handset packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in partial-discharge storage state need this slow initial charge to reach rated 600mAh capacity — skipping it means the first several cycles will feel shorter than expected.

Base station showing a charging error on a new Ni-MH pack

GE base stations use a voltage-detection handshake before committing charge current. A Ni-MH pack that has sat in storage for months can drop to 1.8V or below — below the threshold the base accepts as a valid battery. The base reads this as a fault and shows an error or no-charge light rather than starting a charge cycle. Placing the pack in the base and waiting 30–60 minutes often allows residual trickle current to raise the cell voltage above the acceptance threshold, after which normal charging resumes.

Handset loses pairing after replacing the battery

Some GE DECT handsets store pairing data in volatile memory backed by the battery — when power drops to zero during a swap, that data clears. The handset powers on but the base no longer recognises it. To fix this, run the handset registration sequence from the base menu: most GE models require pressing the find-handset button on the base for 3–5 seconds while the handset is powered on and in range. Consult the handset label for the exact registration PIN, which is typically 0000 by default.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE cordless phone talk time is much shorter than it used to be even with this new battery — is that normal?

Yes, for the first three to five cycles. Ni-MH cells arrive in a partially discharged storage state, and rated 600mAh capacity isn't reached until the cells have been fully cycled a few times. Each full charge-then-use cycle conditions the chemistry further. Run at least three complete charge-and-use cycles before judging talk time against the original battery.

The handset shows full charge but the battery drains completely overnight while it's sitting in the base — what's wrong?

This is a handset seating issue, not a battery fault. If the handset isn't fully clicked into the base cradle, the charge contacts don't make consistent connection — the base stops charging but the handset's standby circuit keeps drawing current. Remove the handset, check the charge contacts on both the handset and cradle for dirt or oxidation, then reseat the handset firmly until you hear or feel it click. Check that the charge indicator light on the base stays lit after reseating.

My GE handset range dropped noticeably after the battery swap — the old battery reached further across the house.

Reduced range after a Ni-MH swap usually means the new pack hasn't been fully conditioned yet. The DECT transmit circuit draws a short high-current pulse during each radio burst — if the pack voltage sags under that RF load, the transmitter backs off power to protect the circuit. After three to five full charge-discharge cycles the pack's internal resistance drops and voltage holds steadier under load. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the handset charge contacts are clean and making full contact with the base.
