Fits OpenStage SL4, SL5, and SL6 cordless handsets; replaces OEM 3.7V lithium-ion battery pack.
3.7V, 830mAh capacity delivers rated talk and standby time on DECT platform hardware.
Connector slides straight into handset battery slot with positive contact facing the base.
We bench-tested this cell in an SL4 dock; BMS accepted charge within two cycles.
After install, seat the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — lithium cells on DECT systems need slow first charge to register capacity with base firmware.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

OpenStage SL4 / SL5 / SL6 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 830mAh lithium-ion battery fits the OpenStage SL4, SL5, and SL6 cordless DECT handsets. It replaces the original cell when the handset no longer holds a charge or stops powering on. Capacity is 830mAh (3.07Wh) — matching the stock specification.

  • SL4, SL5, and SL6 compatibility: These three handset models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail — one cell fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SL4 platform. The protection circuit cut in correctly at low voltage and the base station accepted the charge handshake without error.
  • First charge after installation: Place the handset in the base immediately after fitting the new cell and leave it there for a full 16 hours before use. Li-ion cells that have sat in storage ship at a reduced state of charge — a complete first cycle brings the cell to rated capacity.

Talk time shorter than expected after battery replacement

A new Li-ion cell ships partially discharged after storage. If you start using the handset before it completes a full charge, the first few cycles will feel short. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and talk time will stabilise at the rated capacity. If it stays short after three full cycles, check that the handset contacts are clean and making firm contact with the base cradle.

Handset not pairing with base after battery swap

Removing the battery completely cuts power to the handset, and some DECT phones lose their pairing data when the cell drops out. The fix is to re-register the handset from the base station menu — on most OpenStage systems this is under Settings → Registration. You will need the system PIN, which defaults to 0000 on most units. Once registered, the handset reconnects immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My OpenStage SL4 battery drains completely overnight even when it's sitting in the base — what's causing that?

The most common cause is the handset not seating fully in the cradle, so the charging contacts don't make a clean connection and the standby draw pulls the cell flat by morning. Lift the handset out, check both the handset contacts and the base cradle pins for dust or oxidation, and wipe them with a dry cloth. Reseat the handset firmly — you should hear or feel it click into position. If the cell still drains flat overnight after that, check the base station power supply is live and delivering current to the cradle.

The base station light shows no charge or flashes an error after I fitted the new battery — is the battery faulty?

Not usually. Li-ion cells that have been in storage arrive below the voltage threshold some base stations need before they will begin a charge cycle. Leave the handset seated in the base for 30 minutes without touching it — the base will often accept the cell once it detects a small initial voltage. If the error light stays on after 30 minutes, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it to trigger a fresh charge detection handshake.

The SL4 handset is losing range and dropping calls near the edge of the house — could the new battery be the reason?

Yes, this is a known issue when a cell has low voltage under load. The SL4 transmit circuit draws more current when maintaining a DECT link at range, and a partially charged or degraded cell will sag below the voltage the RF stage needs to hold signal. Run two full charge cycles first — range typically recovers once the cell is fully conditioned. If range stays poor after that, measure the resting voltage of the cell after a full charge; it should read at or above 4.1V.
