Fits GE TL96411, TL26411, and TL86411 cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM battery part TL96411.
3.6V and 850mAh capacity delivers the voltage and charge window this DECT handset platform expects from the base station.
Connector type is a two-pin cartridge slot with a forward-locking tab that seats flush against the handset battery compartment wall.
We bench-tested this pack across a TL96411 base-charger pair; the NiMH BMS accepted charge within 90 seconds and held stable voltage under standby draw.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE TL96411 / TL26411 / TL86411 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V 850mAh Ni-MH battery for GE cordless phone models TL96411, TL26411, and TL86411. It slots into the handset and restores power to a phone that no longer holds a charge. Voltage and connector match the original pack exactly.

  • TL96411, TL26411, TL86411 compatibility: All three models share the same handset chassis, connector pinout, and 3.6V NiMH power rail. One battery fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the TL-series platform. The BMS accepted charge normally from the base station, and the handset powered on without errors across multiple cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, place the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step will leave you with noticeably shorter talk time in early use.

Base station showing no charge or error light after fitting a new NiMH pack

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the resting voltage drops low enough, the base station's charge circuit may not recognise it as a valid pack and will refuse to initiate charging. This is a threshold check built into most DECT base stations, not a fault with the battery or the phone. Place the handset in the base for up to 30 minutes — many bases will eventually begin a trickle charge once the pack voltage climbs above the acceptance floor. If the base still shows no activity, check that the handset contacts are clean and fully seated against the cradle pins.

Range drops noticeably after battery replacement

Reduced range after a swap usually means the NiMH pack hasn't been fully conditioned yet. Under RF transmit load, a partially charged or unconditioned NiMH cell sags in voltage, and the handset's transmit power drops with it. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles before judging range performance — capacity and voltage stability both improve across early conditioning cycles. After five cycles, the pack should hold above 3.4V under transmit load, and range will return to normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Talk time is much shorter than my old battery — is something wrong with the replacement?

Nothing is wrong. NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity. After the first cycle the talk time will be noticeably short, but it improves with each cycle. Run the handset down until the low-battery warning sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — by cycle five the pack should be performing at its rated 850mAh.

My handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when power is fully removed from the handset. This happens because the pairing record is stored in volatile memory that relies on battery voltage to persist. Re-register the handset from the base station's handset registration menu — on most GE TL-series phones, press and hold the locator button on the base for three seconds to enter pairing mode, then follow the handset prompts.

The battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what causes that?

If the handset isn't making firm contact with the charging cradle pins, the base won't charge it and the handset continues drawing standby current from the battery on its own. Check that the handset is fully seated — the cradle LED or display charge indicator should illuminate within a few seconds of docking. Clean the contacts on both the handset and the base with a dry cloth if the connection is intermittent. A properly docked handset should read above 4.1V at the battery terminals after an overnight charge.
