Uniden EXT-1460 / EXT-1465 Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BBTY0483001)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for Uniden cordless phone handsets including the EXT-1460 and EXT-1465 series. It replaces OEM part numbers BBTY0483001 and BBTY0507001. The battery slides into the handset battery compartment and connects to the same charging circuit as the original pack.

  • EXT-1460 and EXT-1465 platform fit: Both models run the same 3.6V three-cell NiMH architecture and share an identical connector and physical footprint — that is why one battery covers both handset variants without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the Uniden base charging circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the first cycle, with cell voltage rising steadily to 4.2V at full charge without triggering the base error indicator.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing the battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells stored at low voltage need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the leading cause of short talk time complaints in the first week.

Uniden bases use a voltage-sense circuit to detect whether a battery is present and accepting charge. A fresh NiMH pack shipped at low storage voltage — sometimes as low as 3.0V — can fall outside the acceptance window the base expects to see. The base then flags an error light rather than starting the charge cycle. Seating the handset for 30 minutes, removing it, and reseating it often gives the pack enough surface charge to cross the acceptance threshold and start a normal charge.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells do not deliver full rated capacity on the first cycle out of the box — capacity builds over three to five full charge and discharge cycles. If talk time feels short immediately after swapping the battery, the cells have not yet been conditioned. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat this process three times. By cycle four, measured capacity should be at or near the rated 700mAh.

My Uniden EXT-1460 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT cordless phones drop their pairing data when power is fully interrupted. This is not a battery fault. Re-register the handset using the pairing button on the base — on most Uniden EXT-series bases, hold the page/find button for five seconds until the handset enters registration mode, then follow the on-screen prompt.

The handset is fully draining overnight even when it's sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

The most common cause is the handset not making solid contact with the base charging pins. Check that the handset sits flat and clicks into the cradle — a slight tilt breaks the circuit. If the charging indicator light is not showing on the base when the handset is seated, clean the charge contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the indicator activates.

Range dropped noticeably after I fitted the new battery — the old one reached further around the house. What's causing it?

DECT transmit power on the EXT-1460 handset is sustained by stable voltage from the battery. When a new NiMH pack is not yet conditioned, its voltage sags under the RF transmit load and the handset scales back output power to stay within operating range. Run three full charge-and-discharge cycles to condition the cells. After conditioning, the pack holds voltage more firmly under load and the original range returns.
