Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Glovii Universal Gloves / GXR / GXB / GJ1 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GLP7421)
This 7.4V 2000mAh Li-ion pack replaces the factory battery in Glovii heated gloves, including the Universal Gloves, GXR, GXB, and GJ1 models. It slots into the same battery housing and connects to the same heating element circuit. Capacity matches the original 14.8Wh rating from the product data.
- Universal Gloves, GXR, GXB, and GJ1 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V two-cell battery architecture and connector format. The heating elements in each glove are rated for this voltage rail, and the BMS handshake is consistent across the range — swapping this pack between compatible models causes no fault codes or heat-level lockouts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through all three heat settings on compatible Glovii gloves. The BMS held voltage above 6.8V under sustained maximum-draw operation. Cell balance stayed within 30mV across both cells after a full charge-discharge cycle.
- First-use heat setting protocol: Start on the lowest heat setting for the first 10 minutes on a new pack. The heating elements pull significant current at maximum, and a new cell benefits from a short warm-up period before running at full draw. Jumping straight to maximum on a cold, fresh cell puts early stress on the BMS protection circuit.
Why Glovii gloves cut out mid-use on the highest heat setting
The highest heat setting draws roughly three to four times more current than the lowest. If the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically 6.0V for a 7.4V two-cell pack — the protection circuit interrupts the heating element circuit entirely. This is not a glove fault; it is the BMS doing its job to prevent over-discharge. A degraded cell that reads full on the indicator but cannot sustain the current load will trigger this cutoff faster than a new pack will.
Heat output noticeably weaker in very cold outdoor temperatures
Li-ion cells lose usable capacity as temperature drops — a pack that delivers full output at 20°C can lose 15–20% of effective capacity at 0°C or below. The cell's internal resistance rises in the cold, which means voltage sags faster under the heating element's load. Keeping the battery pack tucked against your wrist or inside a sleeve rather than exposed to open air slows this effect. If the gloves feel weak outdoors but recover after coming inside, cold-induced voltage sag is the cause, not a faulty pack.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Glovii gloves won't reach the highest heat level even on a fully charged new battery — what's going wrong?
The highest heat setting demands the most current, and if the pack voltage sags below roughly 6.8V under that load, the glove's controller steps the heat level down to protect the circuit. This is a load-voltage issue, not a charge-level issue — the indicator can show full while the cell still can't sustain the draw. Run the gloves on the lowest setting for 10 minutes first to let the cells stabilise, then step up to maximum. If the gloves still won't hold the top setting, check that the battery terminals are clean and making full contact in the housing.
The heating element cuts out completely after a few minutes on high, then comes back when I switch to low — is the battery faulty?
This is the BMS triggering an over-current or under-voltage cutoff. At maximum draw, both cells must hold their voltage above the protection threshold simultaneously — if one cell is slightly weaker, the BMS cuts the circuit before the other cell can compensate. Switching to low reduces current draw enough for the pack to recover above the cutoff voltage, which is why heat returns. On a new pack, confirm the cells are fully charged to 8.4V before first use; on an older pack, this behaviour means one cell has degraded and the pack needs replacing.
Why does the battery drain so much faster when I use the high setting compared to low?
The high setting runs the heating elements at close to their full rated wattage, drawing three to four times more current than the low setting does. The 2000mAh cell has a fixed energy budget of 14.8Wh regardless of which setting you use — higher current simply exhausts that budget faster. Cold ambient temperatures compound this because Li-ion internal resistance rises in the cold, pushing usable capacity down further on the high setting. To extend time on high, keep the battery pack against your wrist rather than exposed to wind, which reduces the cold-induced capacity loss.
