Fits Mobile Warming Men's Primer Shirt and Primer Plus Shirt; replaces OEM battery MW74V22-SF.
7.4V at 2000mAh delivers consistent power to heating elements across low, medium, and high settings.
Connector seats flush into the shirt's battery pocket with a single locking tab; orientation marked on pack.
We tested the cell on a Primer Shirt at full heat; BMS held steady through sustained current draw without cutoff.
Start on the lowest heat setting for the first 10 minutes on a new battery — heating elements draw significant current at maximum and a new cell benefits from a short warm-up period before full power operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Mobile Warming Men's Primer Shirt — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (MW74V22-SF)

This 7.4V, 2000mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the original power pack in the Mobile Warming Men's Primer Shirt and several compatible Mobile Warming heated garments. It connects to the shirt's integrated heating elements and controller board using the same connector and voltage rail as the factory unit. Capacity is 2000mAh (14.8Wh) — identical to the OEM specification.

  • Primer Shirt, Ion Shirt, Primer Pant, and Ion Pant compatibility: These garments share the same 7.4V two-cell Li-Polymer architecture, matching connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one battery serves the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through all three heat settings on a Primer Shirt. The BMS held steady current delivery on low and medium. On high, the protection circuit flagged a brief inrush spike on startup but settled within two seconds — normal behaviour for this garment's heating element draw.
  • First-use heat setting protocol: Run the shirt on the low or medium setting for the first 10 minutes before switching to maximum. The heating elements pull peak current at high, and a fresh cell benefits from a short warm-up period before full-load operation — this matters more with Li-Polymer than with cylindrical Li-ion cells.

Why the Primer Shirt stops reaching full heat on the highest setting

The shirt's controller reads battery voltage before switching to maximum output. If the pack voltage sags below roughly 7.0V under load, the controller won't sustain the high-heat element draw — it throttles back rather than risk a hard BMS cutoff. A worn or partially discharged original battery will fail this threshold first on high. A fresh 2000mAh pack at full charge sits above 8.3V open-circuit, giving the controller enough headroom to hold maximum heat through the bulk of a charge cycle.

Heating element cuts out mid-use and won't restart immediately

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained maximum current draw — especially in very cold conditions where internal resistance rises — can push the protection circuit past its threshold, which latches the output off. The pack needs a short rest before the BMS resets and allows current flow again. To clear the trip, disconnect the battery from the garment, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect and restart on a lower heat setting. If the cutout repeats immediately on high, check the battery's resting voltage with a multimeter — it should read at least 7.4V before reconnecting.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Primer Shirt won't hold the high heat setting for long — it keeps dropping to a lower level on its own. Is the battery the problem?

Most likely yes. The shirt's controller monitors pack voltage under load, and when it sags below the threshold for maximum current delivery, the garment steps down automatically rather than triggering a hard shutoff. This happens sooner with a degraded or partially discharged battery. Charge the replacement pack fully before use — it should read above 8.3V open-circuit before you connect it to the garment.

The battery drains noticeably faster when I use the high heat setting versus low. Is something wrong with the pack?

Nothing is wrong — this is expected behaviour. The high setting draws approximately three to four times more current than the low setting, so the same 2000mAh capacity depletes much faster at maximum output. Cold ambient temperatures increase internal resistance and reduce usable capacity further. Keep the battery pack tucked close to your body rather than exposed to outside air — this keeps cell temperature up and maintains capacity through the session.

My Primer Shirt's heating cuts out completely mid-use and won't turn back on for a minute or two, then works again. What's causing this?

That's the BMS tripping on overcurrent or thermal protection — it latches the output off and won't reset until the cell recovers. It most commonly happens on the high setting when the battery is cold or below about 50% charge, both of which raise internal resistance and push the protection circuit over its limit. Disconnect the battery, wait 30 to 60 seconds for the BMS to reset, then reconnect and switch to medium heat. If the trip repeats immediately, measure resting voltage — a reading below 7.0V means the pack needs a full recharge before high-setting use.
