Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HandHeld Dolphin 7900 / 9500 / 9550 / 9900 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (200-00591-01)
This is a 7.4V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the HandHeld Dolphin 7900, 9500, 9550, and 9900 rugged mobile computers. These devices are used in warehouse pick-and-pack, retail inventory, and asset tracking operations. The pack slots into the same battery bay as the original and communicates with the device BMS over the same contact array.
- Dolphin 7900, 9500, 9550, and 9900 compatibility: All four models share the same 7.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full platform without any wiring or adapter differences.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through barcode scan bursts combined with active wireless polling. The BMS held stable across repeated trigger-inrush events and did not trip on cold-start draws.
- First-shift preparation: After installing a new pack, place the Dolphin in its charging cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum voltage — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS cutoffs during the first hour of operation.
Cradle throwing a charging error on a new pack
Dolphin charging cradles use spring-loaded contacts to communicate charge status. If those contacts have oxidation or debris from a worn-out pack, the cradle reads elevated contact resistance and flags a fault rather than starting a charge cycle. Wipe the gold contacts on the bottom of the new battery and the matching pins inside the cradle with a dry lint-free cloth. Reseat the device firmly until you hear it click into place. The cradle should begin charging within 10 seconds and the amber LED should appear steady.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
On the Dolphin 9500 and 9550, the radio transmitter and the scan trigger both draw current simultaneously during a rapid scan sequence. If the cell voltage sags below 6.8V under that combined load, the BMS briefly reduces output to protect the cell — the radio drops its connection before the scanner shows any low-battery warning. This is more common with aged packs that have lost capacity through shallow cycling. A replacement pack at full charge maintains voltage above 7.0V under the same combined load, keeping the radio link stable through the burst.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Dolphin 7900 installed the new battery but the barcode imager stops firing after a few scans — what's happening?
The imager and decode processor need a stable voltage above approximately 6.5V to fire consistently. If the pack was shipped at storage charge (around 50%), the cell voltage under inrush load can dip low enough for the BMS to throttle output after a few triggers. Place the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before use — once the cell is at 7.4V resting voltage, the imager will fire reliably through a full shift.
The Dolphin 9500 feels noticeably warm on the back panel after two hours of scanning — is that a problem with the pack?
Sustained scan-plus-wireless draw in the 9500's enclosed housing generates real heat, and a new pack under full load will run warmer than a degraded pack drawing less current. Surface temperatures up to around 40°C on the back panel are within normal operating range for this device class. If the unit is hot enough to trigger a thermal warning on screen, check that the ventilation slots near the battery bay are clear of label debris or dust. No fault action is needed unless the on-screen thermal alert appears.
The new battery shows full charge on the Dolphin display but shift endurance is shorter than expected — why?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval together determine how fast the pack drains — a busy pick line with constant scanning and live WMS sync draws significantly more than light intermittent use. Compare the new pack against the old one on the same workload, not on idle time. If endurance is still lower than the original spec after two full charge cycles, check the Dolphin's power settings and confirm the wireless poll rate matches your network configuration rather than defaulting to maximum.
