The scanner runs noticeably warm after a long shift — is that normal with this pack?

Sustained combined draw from the wireless radio and the barcode imager in the X8's enclosed housing generates heat that has nowhere to go quickly. This is a device thermal characteristic, not a cell fault. The pack itself should stay cool to the touch at the battery compartment — if the battery housing is hot rather than the top of the device, check that the battery cover is fully seated and not trapping heat against the cell. Confirm the battery surface stays below 40°C during a normal shift; anything above that warrants removing the pack and inspecting the contacts.

My Nautiz X8 scans fewer barcodes per shift than it did with the old battery at the same age — what's draining it faster?

Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both compound draw in ways a simple capacity number doesn't show. If the device is set to continuous Bluetooth polling rather than on-demand connect, the radio stays active between scans and adds a constant background drain. Check the wireless connection mode in the X8 settings and switch to on-demand or sleep-between-scans if the workflow allows it. That single change typically reduces idle draw enough to extend a shift noticeably without touching the hardware.
