Fits HME MB Base Stations and WS200 wireless headset dock systems, replacing OEM part BAT850.
7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers steady power to the charging cradle and DECT radio link without voltage sag.
Connector seats vertically into the dock battery slot with a single locking tab on the right side.
We bench-tested this cell on the MB100 cradle; BMS handshake completed on first insertion, charge curve stable across three full cycles.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking a call — DECT units require the dock to log the new cell before talk-time estimate locks in.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HME MB Base Stations / WS200 / Pro 850 — 7.2V Ni-MH 2000mAh Replacement Battery (BAT850)

This is a 7.2V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for HME wireless headset base stations. It fits the MB Base Stations, MB100 Base Station, WS200, and Pro 850 Intercom systems. When the original cell degrades, the base station loses its ability to hold charge and communicate with headsets — this battery restores that function.

  • MB Base Station and Pro 850 compatibility: These units share the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell format, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single replacement cell services both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge acceptance and communication handshake on an MB Base Station. The BMS completed recognition without errors and the pack reached full charge voltage cleanly across cycles.
  • First-cycle base station logging: Seat the new battery and charge the headset in the base station for one complete cycle before use. DECT base stations log the new cell during that first full charge — until logging completes, the talk-time estimate displayed may read inaccurately low.

Why the Pro 850 base station shows a charging error after a battery swap

The Pro 850 base station uses a BMS handshake to verify the pack before enabling the charging circuit. A fresh replacement cell often arrives at storage voltage — around 6.0V — which sits below the threshold the base station expects to see when initiating that handshake. The base then flags a charging error rather than proceeding. Connecting the pack and leaving it seated for 10–15 minutes allows the base to trickle-charge the cell to a voltage where the handshake can complete normally.

Headset cuts out mid-call after a new battery fits and base shows full charge

This happens when the replacement cell was never taken through a proper first full cycle — the base logs a partial state of charge as 100% and the headset depletes faster than expected. It is not a fault with the battery cell itself. Place the headset in the base with the new pack installed and allow a full uninterrupted charge before making calls. After two to three complete charge-discharge cycles, the base station recalibrates and the headset sustains a full talk session at the rated 2000mAh capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HME Pro 850 base station is showing a charging error right after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?

The base station's BMS requires the cell to be above a minimum voltage before it will complete the handshake and open the charging circuit. A replacement pack often ships at storage voltage, which is too low to trigger that handshake. Leave the battery seated in the base for 10–15 minutes — the base trickle-charges the cell past the threshold, the error clears, and normal charging starts. If the error persists past 20 minutes, check that the connector is fully seated and the contact pins are clean.

The base says the headset is fully charged but it cuts out after a short call — is the battery faulty?

This is a first-cycle calibration issue, not a defective cell. The base station logged the battery at storage voltage and is reporting a false full-charge reading. Run two to three complete charge-discharge cycles — full charge in the base, then a full talk session until the headset signals low battery — and the base will recalibrate its capacity estimate to the actual 2000mAh rating.

The WS200 headset gets noticeably warm during long calls after the battery swap — is that normal?

Some warmth is expected on the WS200 because the housing combines audio processing and DECT radio draw in a compact space, and Ni-MH cells generate more heat than lithium chemistries during sustained discharge. If the base station is also warm to the touch and the headset is cutting out, the pack may not be seating correctly and is working harder to maintain contact. Reseat the battery firmly, confirm the connector clicks, and check that the cell surface isn't contacting any housing vents. Warmth that causes automatic cutoff points to a loose connection rather than a cell problem.
