Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell CW45 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CW45-BAT-EX)
This is a 3.7V, 6800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Honeywell CW45 rugged mobile computer. It fits the CW45 handheld directly, using the same OEM part number CW45-BAT-EX. Capacity figures are sourced from the product specification — 25.16Wh total energy.
- CW45 platform fit: The CW45 uses a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack with a proprietary latch and BMS handshake. This pack matches that voltage rail and connector geometry exactly — the BMS negotiates charge state with the cradle the same way the original does.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a CW45 unit. The BMS reported state-of-charge accurately at all stages and the cradle accepted the pack without a fault code. Scan trigger and wireless radio draw both behaved normally during load testing.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack: After installing this pack, seat the CW45 in its charging cradle and complete a full charge cycle before deploying it on the floor. The scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell is near minimum charge — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips when the first shift starts heavy scanning.
Cradle showing a charging error after fitting a new pack
The CW45 cradle reads battery data through gold contact pins on the base of the pack. If those contacts have residue, oxidation, or are slightly misaligned, the cradle throws a charging fault even though the pack itself is fine. Wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, then reseat the device firmly until the latch clicks. If the fault clears, the issue was contact resistance — not the battery. A persistent fault after reseating points to cradle pin damage, not the pack.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
During a fast scan burst, the CW45 draws current from both the imager and the wireless radio simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the radio module's minimum operating threshold under that combined load, the radio drops out briefly — it looks like a connection loss but it is actually a voltage sag event. A new pack with full charge holds the voltage rail steady through those dual-draw peaks. Charge the pack fully before the shift and confirm cell voltage is above 3.6V before starting high-frequency scan runs.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CW45 stopped reading barcodes right after I put the new battery in — is the scanner broken?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to fire reliably, and a new pack fresh out of packaging often ships at partial charge. Seat the CW45 in its cradle and charge the new pack fully before scanning — once cell voltage climbs above 3.6V, imager power is stable and reads recover. If the scanner still fails to read after a full charge cycle, the issue is in the optics or decode engine, not the battery.
The CW45 feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift on this battery — is that normal?
Sustained simultaneous load from the imager, wireless radio, and the device CPU in an enclosed housing does generate heat. Some warmth after an extended shift is normal for the CW45 platform. If the unit is too hot to hold comfortably, check whether the scan trigger is firing continuously due to a software loop or always-on scan mode, as that doubles the thermal load. Dropping wireless polling frequency in the device settings also reduces sustained current draw and lowers operating temperature.
The new battery seems to drain faster than my old one did at the start — what's causing that?
A Li-ion cell that hasn't completed its first full charge-discharge cycle hasn't reached its rated capacity yet. Run two full charge cycles in the cradle before judging shift endurance — capacity typically stabilises after the second cycle. Also check scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval in the CW45 settings, as aggressive polling combined with high scan rates compresses effective capacity more than either does alone. After two full cycles, confirmed cell voltage at full charge should read 4.2V.
