Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra WS50 / WS5000 Series — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BT-000446A)
This is a 3.85V 2400mAh Li-ion cell that replaces OEM part BT-000446A and BT-000446A-18 in the Zebra WS50 wearable mobile computer family. It fits the WS50, WS5000, WS5001, and WS5001-0B2J3020ENA. The pack slots into the wrist-mounted housing and communicates directly with the device BMS over the same contact layout as the original.
- WS50 / WS5000 series fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 3.85V nominal rail is fixed across the range — swapping between WS5001 variants does not change the electrical requirement.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the WS50 platform. The BMS authenticated correctly on first insertion, charge acceptance was normal, and the pack held voltage across back-to-back scan trigger bursts without dropping below the radio keep-alive threshold.
- First-shift preparation for pick-and-pack use: Place the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before the first shift. Scan trigger inrush is highest when the cell is near minimum, and a fully charged pack prevents false BMS trips when the imager and wireless radio fire simultaneously during rapid burst scanning.
Cradle charging error on a freshly installed pack
The WS50 cradle monitors contact resistance during the charge handshake. A new pack with oxidised or dust-covered contacts can read as a fault before the charge cycle even begins. The dock reports this as a charging error even though the pack itself is functional. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, reseat the scanner firmly, and the charging indicator should switch to active within 30 seconds.
Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The WS50 runs the imager and the wireless radio simultaneously during high-frequency scanning. Combined inrush from both loads causes a brief voltage sag on a degraded or deeply discharged cell. When the rail drops too low, the radio drops its connection before the imager even completes the decode. A cell at full charge maintains enough headroom to supply both loads — start each shift with the pack fully charged and the voltage sag stays within the radio's hold-up window.

Frequently Asked Questions
The WS50 imager fires but won't read barcodes after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage to illuminate at full intensity. If the new pack was shipped partially discharged, the cell voltage may be too low to drive the laser or LED to its operating threshold even though the scanner powers on. Put the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before your first scan session. Once the pack reaches 4.2V, the imager should decode at normal read distance.
My WS50 runs noticeably warm after a few hours of continuous scanning — is that a battery issue?
Sustained back-to-back scanning combined with constant wireless polling generates significant heat inside the enclosed wrist housing. The battery itself contributes some thermal output during high-draw cycles, but the main source is the combined load of the imager, processor, and radio running without break. If the housing is too hot to touch comfortably, give the unit a 10-minute rest with the scanner in the cradle — this lets the cell temperature drop and resets any thermal throttling the BMS may have applied.
The WS50 shift endurance dropped noticeably compared to the old battery even after a full charge — what should I check?
Scan burst frequency and wireless polling interval both pull from the same cell. If your operation increased scan density or switched to a more aggressive wireless polling rate since the last battery, the new pack will deplete faster than the old one did under lighter use — this is not a fault. Check the device's wireless settings and confirm the polling interval hasn't changed. If settings are unchanged, a single full charge-to-discharge cycle often recalibrates the fuel gauge and restores accurate capacity reporting.
